The paper presents anestimation of methane emission from deposited municipal solid waste in Sferkalandfill for the years 2006–2016 and and projections of methane emissions forthe time period 2017-2022. Methane emission was calculated according to the methodologyrecommended by IPCC 2006, using default values. Within framework of theresearch the following parameters were evaluated: amount of landfilled waste,landfill characteristics, composition of landfilled waste and climateconditions of the region. Based on these parameters, the total amount of CH4 emitted from the landfill during 2006–2016 wasestimated at 8 Gg or200 Gg CO2 eq. Thetotal mass of CH4 for the time period 2017–2022 is projected to be 13Gg, or 325 Gg CO2 eq.
