Spring is a natural sourceof groundwater. The purpose of this study was to assess the quality of springwaters in the village Pepaj, Rugova Region. The spring water samples were takenfrom the main water sources where maximum peoples were using them for drinkingpurpose. The samples collected from these springs have been analysed forphysico- chemical parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, electrical-conductivity,total dissolved solids, total hardness, HCO3-, NH+NO3-,PO33-, SO42-Cl- and F-.The values of those parameters have been evaluated with respect to guidelinesprovided by World Health Organization (WHO) and European Union (EU) standards. This study indicated that the values of each parameter were found to be withinthe permissible limit values, which shows the spring waters is safe fordrinking and other domestic uses. The concentrations of all parameters varyingaccording to the nature of the terrain, through which they flow, geologicalstructure, soil and species composition of tree stands. Several differenceswere identified between the spring waters temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, relatively high concentration of bicarbonate ions, low concentrations ofbiogenic compounds such has NO3 - and NH +, whilePO4 3- were not found to bepresent, F-and Cl-concentrations were also determined to low.</p>
