this study is to investigate the cyber bullying status of the middle school
students in the 8th grade of secondary school in the 2017-2018 academic year in
Adapazarı district of Sakarya province. The screening model was used for this
purpose. In this study, 722 (386 female, 336 male) students studying in the 8th
grade of state and private secondary schools in Adapazarı district of Sakarya
province were taken as a sample. The cyber bullying scale consisting of 24
items and one factor developed by Arıcak, Kınay and Tanrıkulu (2012) was used
in order to investigate the students' cyber bullying status. As a result of the
analysis of the data obtained, it was seen that cyber bullying averages of
female gender students were significantly lower than the cyberbullying averages
of male gender students. It was determined that cyberbullying scores of 8th
grade students studying in state and private secondary schools were similar. It
was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between
the students who have medium level internet use and cyber bullying average of
students who have high level of internet usage skills in favor of students who
have medium level internet use skills. It was found that there was a
statistically significant difference between the daily internet usage times and
the students' cyberbullying average scores. In addition, it was found that the
cyber bullying scores of the students whose families had different incomes were
similar.
