Nowadays, rapid urbanization has rendered the cities as one of the most important venues of the political power-sharing struggles, and the issues included by urban politics have expanded in this context. Local press by the news on urban life and politics allows the public to learn and discuss these issues. Whereas the importance of local press, the relation between the local press and the local actors is often ignored. In this context, the study wants to reveal how the local press has transformed over time, which local actors are related with, and what level of relationship with the actors. For this purpose, semi-structured interview was held with 16 people from Mersin press and local actors.
Günümüzde hızlı kentleşme, şehirleri politik güç ve denge paylaşımı merkezlerinden biri haline getirmiş, bu bağlamda kentsel siyasetin kapsadığı konular genişlemiştir. Yerel basın, kent yaşamı ve siyaseti üzerine yaptığı haberler aracılığıyla kamuoyunun bu konuları öğrenmesine ve tartışmasına imkân sağlar. Yerel basının bu önemine karşılık, yerel aktörlerle arasındaki ilişki sıklıkla görmezden gelinmektedir. Çalışma bu kapsamda, yerel basının zaman içerisinde nasıl bir dönüşüm geçirdiği, hangi yerel aktörlerle ilişkili olduğu ve söz konusu aktörlerle nasıl bir ilişki düzeyi kurduğunu ortaya koymak istemektedir. Bu amaçla, Mersin basın sektöründen ve yerel aktörlerinden oluşan 16 kişi ile yarı-yapılandırılmış bir mülakat gerçekleştirilmiştir.
