Bulgaristan’ın, 19. yüzyılda müstakil bir devlet haline gelmesinden itibaren bu tarihten sonra sıkça Bulgaristan’dan Türkiye’ye doğru yapılan göç olgusu karşımıza çıkmaktadır. 1980’li yıllarda ise komünist ideoloji adı altında Bulgaristan’daki Türk azınlığa karşı uygulanan asimilasyon politikaları 1989 yılında kendi kültürel, kimlik ve milli aidiyetlerini korumak isteyen binlerce Bulgaristan Türkü’nün göçüne sebep olmuştur. Bu orandaki bir kitlesel insan hareketliliğinin hem Bulgaristan hem de Türkiye açısından birtakım sonuçlar doğurmuştur. Bu makale, Balkanlardan gelen göç dalgalarını ilk karşılayan merkez konumundaki Trakya bölgesinin, 1989 yılında Bulgaristan’dan gelen göçün bölgeye olan etkileri üzerinde duracaktır.
Since Bulgaria became an independent state in the 19th century, we frequently encounter the phenomenon of migration from Bulgaria to Turkey. The assimilation policies implemented under the name of communist ideology against the Turkish minority in Bulgaria in the 1980s led to the emigration of thousands of Bulgarian Turks who wanted to preserve their culture, identity and national belonging in 1989. A mass movement of people at this estimate had some consequences for both Bulgaria and Turkey. In this article, the Thrace region, which was the first center to meet the immigration waves from the Balkans, and the effects of the immigration from Bulgaria in 1989 on the region will be discussed.
