ÖZETSavunma harcamaları, ekonomik büyümeyi ve cari işlemler dengesini etkileyen önemli harcamakalemlerinden birini oluşturur. Cari açık ise bütün ülkeler için istenmeyen bir durum olup önemli makroekonomiksorunların başında yer alan bir göstergedir. Bu durumlar göz önüne alındığında iktisatçılar arasında savunmaharcamaları ile cari işlemler dengesi ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki günümüze değin önemli bir yer tutmuşve bu konu ile ilgili birçok ampirik çalışma yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, 1986-2016 dönemi için Türkiye’de savunmaharcamaları ile cari işlemler dengesi ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki Vektör Hata Düzeltme Modeli(VECM) ile incelenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Savunma Harcamaları, Cari Açık, Büyüme, VECM

ABSTRACT:Military expenditure is one of the important expenditure items that affect economic growth andcurrent account balance. The current account deficit is an undesirable situation for all countries and is at theforefront of major macroeconomic problems. Given these circumstances, the relationship between militaryexpenditure, current account balance and economic growth has played an important role on a day-to-day basis andmany empirical studies have been conducted by economists on this subject. In this study, the relationship betweenmilitary expenditure, current account balance and economic growth was examined for Turkey in the period of1986-2016 with Vector Error Correction Model (VECM).Keywords: Military Expenditure, Current Account Deficit, Growth, VECM
