TÜRKİYE’DE ÇOCUK YOKSULLUĞU: BİR YENİDEN DEĞERLENDİRME

Abstract

Bu makalenin iki amacı bulunmaktadır. Bunlardan ilki Türkiye’deki çok boyutlu çocuk yoksulluğunun düzeyini ortaya koymaktır. İkinci amaç ise çok boyutlu çocuk yoksulluğunun belirleyicilerini tahmin etmektir. Bu doğrultuda, Hacettepe Üniversitesi Nüfus Etütleri Enstitüsü’nün 1993 yılından beri beş yılda bir yürüttüğü Türkiye Nüfus ve Sağlık Araştırması veri seti kullanılmıştır. Çok boyutlu yoksulluk hesabında Alkire-Foster endeksi, model tahmininde ise çok düzeyli logit tahmin yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Alkire-Foster endeks sonuçlarına göre Türkiye’deki çok boyutlu çocuk yoksulluğu 1993 ve 2013 yılları arasında 0,248’den 0,180’e düşmüştür. Çok boyutlu yoksulluğun en önemli bileşenin hanenin servet dağılımındaki konumu olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
