<p>The visual and content messages contained in cartoons influence children&#039;s temperaments and minds. Cartoons were chosen for this study because children are exposed to cartoon content at an early age and because they are cultural products with a rich visual and auditory content and a high repetition rate. Within this framework, the study aims to understand whether cartoons contain content that supports family-child communication, a formative process; to explain how family-child communication is conveyed in the selected cartoons; and to explain how family-child communication is approached through communication patterns. The theoretical part of the study examines the concept of family and family communication, and explains family communication processes through communication patterns. The study examines the role of cartoons in family communication. Cartoons broadcast on the &quot;TRT Çocuk&quot; channel, which is notable for its domestically produced cartoons, and the &quot;Minika Çocuk&quot; channel, also broadcast in Turkey and primarily featuring foreign-made cartoons, were analyzed. The cartoons &quot;Niloya&quot; and &quot;Kaplan Daniel&#039;s World&quot; were selected as samples, and Qualitative Content Analysis was chosen as the method. In both samples, parents&#039; communication with their children was characterized by a proactive approach focused on listening, giving them a say, and fostering self-confidence. However, the traditional, cultural, and pedagogical elements influencing the parent-child communication process differed between the two samples.</p></trans-abstract>
