Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Bursa’da yayın yapan yerel gazetelerde Suriyeli sığınmacılara yönelik oluşturulan haber içeriklerinin hangi söylem stratejileri doğrultusunda yapılandırıldığını, bu stratejilerin hangi temsillere dayandığını ve yerel düzeyde toplumsal algının inşasına nasıl katkı sağladığını incelemektir. Araştırma sürecinde, yöntemsel çerçeve olarak Van Dijk tarafından geliştirilen eleştirel söylem analizi yaklaşımı esas alınmaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 09.12.2024–30.04.2025 tarihleri arasında Bursa il merkezinde yayımlanan altı yerel gazetede (Bursa Haber, Bursa Hakimiyet, Bursa Hayat, Kent Bursa, Olay ve Yeni Marmara) yer alan ve Bursa ili bağlamında Suriyeli mültecilere ilişkin toplam 23 haber oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmanın sonuçları gazetelerdeki haber başlıkları ve girişlerinin, Suriyelilere yönelik ötekileştirici söylemler geliştirdiğini ve tehdit algısını güçlendirdiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Dilsel analiz, haberlerde suçlayıcı ve olumsuz çağrışım yapan fiillerin kullanıldığını, özellikle “bıçakla saldırdı", "çarptı", "yaralandı" ve “akın etti” gibi terimlerle Suriyelilerin olumsuz bir şekilde çerçevelendiğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca, etnik kimlik vurgusuyla toplumsal ayrışmanın derinleştirildiği, kültürel farkların öne çıkarıldığı ve ayrımcılığın pekiştirildiği belirlenmiştir. Haberin retorik yapısı, subjektif ifadelerle desteklenen algı yönetimi stratejileriyle şekillenmiş, sayısal veriler ve objektif kaynaklardan uzaklaşılmıştır. Bu durum, haberlerin ideolojik bir duruş sergilemesine neden olmuştur.
The primary objective of this study is to examine the discourse strategies used in news content about Syrian refugees in local newspapers published in Bursa, the representations these strategies are based on, and how they contribute to the construction of social perception at the local level. The research process utilizes the critical discourse analysis approach developed by Van Dijk as the methodological framework. The study sample consists of 23 news articles about Syrian refugees in the context of Bursa province, published between December 9, 2024, and April 30, 2025, in six local newspapers (Bursa Haber, Bursa Hakimiyet, Bursa Hayat, Kent Bursa, Olay, and Yeni Marmara) published in Bursa city center. The results of the study reveal that the headlines and introductions in the newspapers develop marginalizing discourses toward Syrians and reinforce the perception of threat. Linguistic analysis reveals the use of accusatory and negatively connoted verbs in the news, particularly terms such as "attacked with a knife," "crashed," "injured," and "flooded," which frame Syrians negatively. Furthermore, it has been determined that the emphasis on ethnic identity deepens social divisions, highlights cultural differences, and reinforces discrimination. The rhetoric of the news was shaped by perception management strategies supported by subjective statements, and a shift away from numerical data and objective sources. This led to the news taking an ideological stance.
