Editorial Policies

Journal of Academic Tourism Analysis (Journal ATA) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal committed to scientific excellence, editorial transparency, research integrity, and ethical publishing.

All editorial processes are conducted in accordance with the principles of academic freedom, editorial independence, scientific integrity, transparency, and internationally recognized standards of scholarly publishing.

Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit and are made without regard to authors' institutional affiliation, academic rank, nationality, gender, political views, or other personal characteristics.

The journal evaluates manuscripts not only for their scientific quality but also for their ethical compliance, methodological rigor, transparency, and contribution to the advancement of tourism scholarship.

The editorial policies of Journal ATA are based on the following principles.


1. Publication Ethics

Journal ATA adheres to internationally accepted standards of publication ethics.

Authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher are expected to comply with the principles of honesty, transparency, accountability, and responsible research conduct.

The journal adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, salami publication, inappropriate authorship practices, citation manipulation, and all other forms of research misconduct.


2. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based exclusively on scientific evaluation.

The publisher, sponsoring institutions, or third parties shall not influence editorial decisions.

Editors perform their responsibilities independently and in accordance with the principles of academic freedom and editorial impartiality.


3. Peer Review Policy

Journal ATA operates a rigorous Double-Blind Peer Review system.

Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts in the relevant field.

Peer review focuses on scientific originality, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and academic writing quality.


4. Research Integrity Policy

8. Artificial Intelligence Policy

Generative artificial intelligence tools may be used only as supportive instruments during research and manuscript preparation and may not be credited as authors.

Where AI technologies have substantially contributed to the preparation of a manuscript, such use must be transparently disclosed.

Authors remain fully responsible for the scientific accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, and integrity of their work.


9. Conflict of Interest Policy

Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the editorial process.

Potential conflicts are managed according to the principles of transparency and editorial fairness.


10. Post-Publication Policy

Journal ATA is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

Where necessary, published articles may be subject to:

  • Corrections,
  • Editorial Notices,
  • Expressions of Concern, or
  • Retractions,

in accordance with internationally accepted publication ethics.


11. Complaints and Appeals Policy

Authors, reviewers, and readers may submit complaints or appeals regarding editorial decisions or publication procedures.
