<p>In this paper, essentially, by adopting the idea that it shows the basis of Nietzschean thought, it is aimed to address the principal hypothesis of The Birth of Tragedy. For an intellectual, their ideas are surely formed after a certain reservoir. The library which has been accumulated in the first place, would then be changed and transformed in the favor of originality or autonomy. This is what we find crucial too in the case of Nietzsche within the context of his philosophical contrast with Schopenhauer. Therefore, in this paper, Schopenhauer’s philosophy and his theory of aesthetics and, as it would be inevitably necessary, their foundation on Kant’s philosophy are taken into consideration; afterwards, despite of an undeniable closeness between Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, their nonetheless radical difference is unfolded; and then the tragic mindset which Nietzsche has seen to have created the tragedy in the ancient Greeks is examined. And throughout all this process, relation and difference between Schopenhauerian pessimism and Nietzschean pessimism has been taken into account.</p></trans-abstract>
