This study was conducted to determine the 3rd and 4th grade students attending Bilsem and their compliance with spelling and punctuation rules in their writing activities. The research was structured according to a case study from qualitative research methods. The study group consisted of 43 3rd and 4th grade students attending Bilsem. The "spelling and punctuation errors chart" created by the researchers was used as a data collection tool in the study. During the data collection phase, students were asked to do free writing activities on a voluntary basis. The data obtained in this direction were analy-zed with the content analysis technique. It was found that 3rd and 4th grade students attending Bilsem mostly made mistakes in capitalization, spelling of words, and spelling of the conjunction da, de. The most common punctuation errors are as follows: missing period, missing comma, incorrect use of comma, incorrect use of period.
Bu araştırma Bilsem'e devam eden 3. ve 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin yazma çalışmalarındaki yazım ve noktalama kurallarına uyma durumlarını tespit etmek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışmasına göre yapılandırılmış-tır. Bilsem’e devam eden 43 3. ve 4. sınıf öğrencisi araştırmanın çalışma grubunu oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Türk Dil Kurumu’nun güncel Yazım Kılavuzu’ndaki yazım ve noktalama kuralları esas alınarak araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan “yazım ve noktalama yanlışları cetveli” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin toplanması aşamasında gönüllülük esasına dayanılarak öğrencilerden serbest yazma çalışması yapmaları istenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda elde edilen veriler içerik analizi tekniğiyle analiz edilmiştir. Bilsem'e devam eden 3. ve 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin en çok büyük harflerin yazımı, sözcüklerin yazımı ve da, de bağlacının yazımında hata yaptıkları tespit edilmiştir. Noktalama ile ilgili olarak en çok yapılan hatalar ise şöyledir: nokta eksikliği, virgül eksikliği, virgülün hatalı kullanımı, noktanın hatalı kullanımı.
