Design/Methodology/Approach: Descriptive research design was used in this study. The sample of this study consisted of 538 eighth graders and 15 mathematics teachers in middle schools located in central districts with high socioeconomic status in capital city of Türkiye. In this study, curriculum analysis form, mathematics achievement test (KR 20=.86) and teacher interview form were used as data collection tools. Findings: Results indicated that some of the mathematical skills, learning areas and objectives were different in curricula, the achieving level of common objectives by students is low (63%) and Turkish teacher’s opinions on mathematics course pointed about the arrangements for the countries that aim to succeed in mathematics.Highlights: There are similarities and differences in the mathematics curricula of developed countries and Türkiye. The mathematics achievement of students attending schools in the capital city of Türkiye, which has a centralized education system, is below the expected level. Mathematics teachers state that arrangements should be made in the curriculum and implementation of it.</p>

<p>Çalışmanın amacı: Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye’deki sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin, gelişmiş ülkelerle (ABD, Kanada, Japonya ve Almanya) ortak matematik hedeflerine ulaşma düzeylerini ve bu düzeyi etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir. Materyal ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmada betimsel araştırma deseni kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın örneklemini Türkiye&#039;nin başkentinde sosyoekonomik düzeyi yüksek merkez ilçelerdeki ortaokullarda öğrenim gören 538 sekizinci sınıf öğrencisi ve 15 matematik öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak program analiz formu, matematik başarı testi (KR 20=.86) ve öğretmen görüşme formu kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Sonuçlar, öğretim programlarında bazı matematiksel beceri, öğrenme alanı ve kazanımların farklı olduğunu, öğrencilerin ortak kazanımlara ulaşma düzeylerinin düşük olduğunu (%63) ve Türk öğretmenlerinin matematik dersine ilişkin görüşlerinin, matematikte başarılı olmayı hedefleyen ülkelere yönelik düzenlemelere işaret ettiğini göstermektedir.Önemli Vurgular: Matematik alanında gelişmiş ülkelerin ve Türkiye’nin matematik dersi öğretim programlarında farklılaşan ve benzeyen noktalar vardır. Merkezi eğitim sistemine sahip Türkiye’nin başkentindeki okullara devam eden öğrencilerin matematik başarısı beklenen düzeyin altındadır. Matematik öğretmenleri matematik dersinin öğretim programı ve uygulanma sürecinde düzenlemeler yapılması gerektiğini belirtmektedirler.</p></trans-abstract>
