Metabolic Water Cycle in Urban Areas: Turkey Analysis

Abstract

The concept of urban metabolism is a widely accepted and used concept. It offers an effective way to learn about urban metabolism, energy efficiency, waste recycling, waste management and infrastructure features of the urban system. It can also be used as an effective way to measure the inputs of waste, energy, water, food and other materials. Water is an indispensable resource for living beings to survive. Therefore, the sustainability of water is important in the urban metabolic cycle. In this study, analysis of material flow with the water in the cities and the production methods used in a metabolic flux was evaluated Turkey.

Abstract

Kentsel metabolizma kavramı yaygın olarak kabul gören ve kullanılan bir kavramdır. Kentsel metabolizma, enerji verimliliği, geri dönüşüm, atık yönetimi ve kentsel altyapı hakkında bilgi edinmek için etkili bir yol sunmaktadır. Ayrıca, atıkların, enerji, su, yiyecek ve diğer malzemelerin girdilerini ölçmek içinde etkili bir yol olarak kullanılabilmektedir. Su kaynak itibariyle canlıların hayatlarını sürdürülebilmesi için vazgeçilmez bir kaynak niteliği taşımaktadır. Bu nedenle kentsel metabolik döngü içinde suyun sürdürülebilirliği önemlidir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de kentlerde ve üretimde kullanılan suyun materyal akış analizi yöntemiyle metabolik akışı değerlendirilmiştir.
