Abstract
The increase in the use of social media with the development of communication technologies has led to significant changes in media ecology and tools that set the agenda. Changes in media ecology, which have the power to determine what the public will talk and think about, also change the habits of the users. With the radical transformation of media ecology by new communication technologies, the agenda setting approach has also gained importance. In this direction, the main purpose of the research is; During the Covid-19 epidemic, a new type of coronavirus spreading around the world, the change in media ecology was examined within the framework of the agenda setting theory, and the participants’ attitudes towards media and social media usage habits were investigated. In this context, statistical analyzes were carried out using the data of the research conducted with n=309 social media users online with purposeful sampling method. In the research, a questionnaire created and developed within the framework of media ecology and agenda setting theory in the context of the Covid-19 process was used. The analysis of the data was made using a statistical package program. In line with the empirical results of the study, it was determined that the duration of social media usage increased, social media usage habits changed, social media had an important effect on determining the agenda and how to think about which issues, and also social media became an important source of information.
