Abstract
News channels, which bring together the audience by reporting the events happening in the world in a thematic format, have started to share the content they produce with the users of this new field, as the social media becomes more widespread day by day. Social media has become an important platform for the journalism profession with its new opportunities and possibilities. This study aims to reveal the way in which television news channels, which are one of the most effective channels in conveying the news to the society, use social media. In this context, four national news channels with the most followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube were determined according to the data obtained from the Boomsocial.com site between 9-15 February 2022 with the general scanning model. These news channels are TRT Haber, NTV, CNN Türk and A Haber. Then, the number of followers on Facebook, Instagram Twitter and YouTube accounts of these news channels and their follower increase rates, message types and interaction rates were examined comparatively by descriptive analysis method. As a result of the study, it was determined that the four news channels that make up the sample of the research mostly use Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram platforms, respectively. It has been revealed that the rate of interaction they receive increases in proportion to the number of followers and shares.
