<p>This study examines the effectiveness of disaster management strategies against forest fires in tourist areas and the importance of local community involvement. Forest fires pose serious environmental and economic threats, especially for tourism-based economies. Increasing climate change and human activities in tourist areas increase the frequency and severity of fires, destroying ecosystems and negatively affecting sustainable tourism. Disaster management strategies include the prevention of fires, establishment of early warning systems and post-fire rehabilitation processes, and the participation of local people in these processes plays a critical role. The knowledge and experience of local people in disaster management can prevent the spread of fires through early detection and rapid response. However, limited access of local volunteers to firefighting equipment and lack of communication with official disaster management institutions may negatively affect effective response processes. In this study using document scanning method, the importance of training and resource provision programs for more effective participation of local people in disaster management processes was emphasized, and the role of local people in disaster management was evaluated, especially through the example of 2021 Muğla forest fires.</p></trans-abstract>
