Ercümend Behzad Lav (1903-1984) ve Arif Nihat Asya (1904-1975) her ikisi de uzun ömrüyle Türk toplumunun 20. yüzyılda nasıl bir değişim ve dönüşüm geçirdiğine tanık olmuş iki şairdir. Edebiyat için şiir olarak ortaya koydukları eserlerde öne çıkan tarihî olay ve kişiler, her iki şairin şiirlerine farklı bir değer katmıştır. Her ikisi de çağdaş birer şair olarak cumhuriyet sonrasında Türk toplumunun sosyal hayatındaki değişimleri yakından gözleme fırsatı bularak şiirlerini tarihsel olay ve kişilerle zenginleştirmişlerdir. Her iki şair de izlek olarak tarihten yararlanmış ancak birbirinden farklı ifade tarzını kullanmakla birlikte farklı dönem ve kişilere şiirlerinde yer vermişlerdir. Odak noktaları farklı olsa da kendi çağı ile birlikte tarihî olay ve kişilere şiirlerinde yer veren bu iki şair, içinde yaşadıkları toplumun değerlerini de su yüzüne çıkarmışlardır. Aynı dönemde yaşamış iki şairin hayata, tarihe bakış olarak edinmiş oldukları izlenimler ve bu izlenimlerin şiirin içinde işleniş biçimleri, karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınması bu çalışmanın gerekçesini ortaya koymuştur.
Ercümend Behzad Lav (1903-1984) and Arif Nihat Asya (1904-1975) are two poets who witnessed the change and transformation of Turkish society in the 20th century.The historical events and figures that came to the fore in the works they produced as poems for literature added a different value to the poems of both poets. Both of them, as contemporary poets, had the opportunity to closely observe the changes in the social life of the Turkish society after the republic and enriched their poems with historical events and people. Both poets made use of history as a thematic, but although they used different expressions, they included different periods and people in their poems. Although their focal points are different, these two poets, who included historical events and people in their poems with their age, also brought out the values of the society they lived in. The impressions of two poets who lived in the same period as a view of life and history, the way these impressions were processed in the poem, and the comparative handling of these impressions revealed the reason for this study.
