Thermal Performance of Marbles and Investigation of Effects to Energy Saving in Buildings

Abstract

Calculations of thermal comfort and thermal insulation and evaluations in civil engineering sector are
currently very important subject based on energy savings. The basic important factor for heat insulation
in buildings is the construction materials used and their thermal properties. Increasing utilization of
natural rock materials in civil structuring applications is making marble materials a very popular tile
material as a construction and facing stone. In this paper, thermal conductivity and specific heat values
of different marble types were described in experimental analyses and the detailed research findings
on the thermal comfort parameters for the marble types were presented. Furthermore, the relationship
between the thermal comfort parameters and the heat insulation properties of the marble types were
discussed in detail.

Abstract

İnşaat sektöründe ısısal konfor - ısı yalıtım hesaplamaları ve değerlendirmeleri, günümüzde enerji
verimliliği bağlamında önemli bir gündemi oluşturmaktadır. Bina uygulamalarında ısı yalıtımını
sağlayan başlıca faktör, kullanılan yapı malzemesi ve malzemenin ısısal özellikleridir. Son yıllarda
inşaat sektöründeki uygulamalarda doğal kayaç malzeme kullanılmasının yaygınlaşması sebebiyle,
mermer türevi plakalarının yapı ve kaplama taşı olarak kullanımı giderek artmaktadır. Bu makalede,
farklı mermer türlerine ait levha ve plakaların, ısı iletkenlik ve özgül ısı kapasite değerleri deneysel
analizlerle belirlenmiş olup, ısısal konfor parametreleri üzerine yapılmış detay irdeleme bulguları
verilmiştir. Ayrıca, mermerlerin ısısal konfor parametreleri ile ısı yalıtım özelliği arasındaki ilişkiler
detaylı tartışılmıştır.
