Investigating Effects of Different Calcination Kilns on Lime Production

Abstract

In this study, the relations between lime calcination kilns and the properties of the limes produced there
in were investigated. The study is realized in two steps. At the first step, the chemical, mechanical and
the thermal properties of the limestones, fed to classic Eberhart kilns with Ceyhan limestone and
parallel-flow regenerative Maerz kilns with Karaisalı limestones were determined. Also, SEM
observations were also approved. At the second step, the properties of the each type product from
each kiln (specific surface area, total CaO, loss on ignition, T60) were determined and the samples
were also analyzed under SEM. Furthermore, samples taken from the localities were calcined in the
classic Eberhart kiln and the effect of the properties of the lime products on calcination was
emphasized.

FARKLI KALSİNASYON ORTAMLARININ KİREÇ ÜRETİMİ ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİLERİNİN ARAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract

Yapılan çalışma ile kalsinasyon ortamları ve bu ortamlarda üretilen kireçlerin özellikleri arasındaki ilişki
incelenmiştir. Çalışma iki aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Birinci aşamada, geleneksel Eberhart fırınlarına
hammadde temin edilen Ceyhan kireçtaşlarının ve çift şaftlı Maerz Fırınlarına hammadde temin edilen
Karaisalı kireçtaşlarının kimyasal, mekanik, termal özellikleri belirlenmiş ve bulunan değerler SEM
incelemeleri ile desteklenmiştir. İkinci aşamada ise, her iki tip kireç fırınında üretilen kireçlerin özellikleri
(özgül yüzey alanı, toplam CaO, KK, T60) belirlenmiş ve örnekler SEM ile de analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca
her iki yöre kireçtaşlarından alınan örnekler geleneksel Eberhart fırınında pişirilmiş ve oluşan kireçlerin
özellikleri belirlenerek fırın tipinin kalsinasyon üzerindeki etkisi vurgulanmıştır.
