METAVERSE AWARENESS SCALE: A SCALE DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION STUDY

Year 2025, Issue: 76, 44 - 67, 31.10.2025
https://doi.org/10.21764/maeuefd.1669036

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a scale to measure individuals’ awareness of the Metaverse and to examine its validity and reliability. The study sample consisted of undergraduate students from various departments of the Faculty of Education at a state university. For the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), a total of 253 students were included in the study, of whom 134 were female (53%) and 119 were male (47%). For the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), 301 students were included in the study, of whom 216 were female (71.8%) and 85 were male (28.2%). Initially, a pool of 30 items was generated and reviewed by experts using the Lawshe technique. During the pilot phase, the candidate form was administered to 50 undergraduate students, and following expert evaluation and pilot testing, the number of items was reduced to 19. Subsequently, the candidate scale was applied to the study group, and EFA was conducted to examine the structure of the scale. As a result of EFA, a two-factor structure was obtained, and the scale was further refined to 17 items. This structure was then tested using CFA, and the fit indices indicated that the scale demonstrated satisfactory construct validity. Additionally, the internal consistency coefficients (Cronbach: 0.93) calculated for each dimension of the scale and the composite reliability (CR) values (0.95) demonstrate that the scale is a reliable measurement tool.

METAVERSE FARKINDALIK ÖLÇEĞİ: ÖLÇEK GELİŞTİRME VE DOĞRULAMA ÇALIŞMASI

Year 2025, Issue: 76, 44 - 67, 31.10.2025
https://doi.org/10.21764/maeuefd.1669036
