Community-supported agriculture (CSA) is an entrepreneurship model that responds to the needs of small communities to consume healthy food produced through alternative farming methods in an unmediated way. CSA shares the risks of agricultural production and marketing between producers and consumers, with consumer members providing the capital needed for production. The model was initiated by a group of women in Japan in the 1970s and is now most widespread in the United States. The integration of CSA with mushroom farming is an important example of sustainable and local food production. Mushroom cultivation is considered ideal for the CSA model with its regular capital requirements and the possibility of multiple harvests throughout the year. CSA initiatives provide consumers with a direct supply of fresh and locally grown mushrooms, while providing producers with market guarantees and financial stability. By examining various examples from around the world, this study argues that a mushroom farming model organized with the CSA model can be sustainable in Türkiye as well. In this study, after the general definition of CSA, the link between mushroom farming and CSA will be discussed with examples of successful entrepreneurs around the world. In this context, the benefits of CSA for both producers and consumers are detailed.
Topluluk destekli tarım (TDT), küçük toplulukların sağlıklı ve alternatif yetiştiricilik yöntemleriyle üretilmiş gıdaları tüketme ihtiyaçlarına aracısız şekilde cevap veren bir girişimcilik modelidir. TDT, tarımsal üretim ve pazarlama sürecindeki riskleri üreticiler ve tüketiciler arasında paylaşarak, üretim için gerekli sermayeyi tüketici üyeler tarafından sağlanan bir sistem sunmaktadır. Bu model, 1970’lerde Japonya’da bir grup kadın tarafından başlatılmış olup, günümüzde en çok ABD’de yaygınlaşmıştır. TDT’nin mantar yetiştiriciliği ile entegrasyonu, sürdürülebilir ve yerel gıda üretimi açısından önemli bir örnek teşkil etmektedir. Mantar yetiştiriciliği, düzenli sermaye gereksinimi ve yıl içerisinde birden fazla hasat imkanı ile TDT girişimciliği için ideal olarak değerlendirilmektedir. TDT girişimleri, tüketicilere taze ve yerel olarak yetiştirilmiş mantarları doğrudan temin ederken, üreticilere de pazar garantisi ve finansal istikrar sağlamaktadır. Dünyadan çeşitli örnekler incelendiği bu çalışmada Türkiye’de de TDT girişimciliğiyle örgütlenmiş bir mantar yetiştiriciliği modelinin sürdürülebilir olabileceği savunulmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, TDT’nin genel tanımının ardından mantar yetiştiriciliği ve TDT arasındaki bağ, dünya çapında başarılı girişimci örnekleri ile ele alınacaktır. Bu bağlamda, TDT’nin hem üreticiler hem de tüketiciler için sunduğu faydalar detaylandırılacaktır.
