INVESTIGATING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PERFECTIONISM, DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY IN GIFTED AND NORMAL ADOLESCENTS
Abstract
It is believed that to understand and recognize the gifted students and their characteristics more precisely is meaningful and vital for their families and educators. Because of this the aim of this study is to investigate the relationships between the perfectionism, depression and anxiety levels of gifted and normal adolescents. Descriptive research methodology was used in the study. The study was carried out in T.C. Beyazıt Ford – Otosan Primary School in which a special program is being prevailed with the cooperation of İstanbul University Department of Special Education. 129 ( 5. , 6. and 7. graders) gifted and normal students were included in the study group. The data of the study was derived from “Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale”, “Children’s Depression Inventory” and “Continuous-State Trait Anxiety. Inventory for Children” and the derived data were analyzed by using SPSS-13.0. The derived data showed that gifted and normal students’ perfectionism, depression and anxiety levels are not significantly different from each other.

ÜSTÜN ZEKÂLI VE NORMAL ERGENLERİN MÜKEMMELİYETÇİLİK, DEPRESYON VE KAYGI DÜZEYLERİ ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİLERİN İNCELENMESİ
Abstract
Üstün zekâlı bireylerin aileleri ve eğitimcileri tarafından daha iyi tanınabilmesi için, bu bireylerin kişilik özelliklerinin anlaşılmasının faydalı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu sebepten mevcut araştırma, üstün ve normal zihin düzeyinde performans gösteren ergenlerin mükemmeliyetçilik, depresyon ve kaygı düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkilerin incelenmesini amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada betimsel yöntem kullanılmıştır.. Çalışma İstanbul Üniversitesi Özel Eğitim Bölümü tarafından “Üstün Zekâlı Çocukların Eğitimi Projesinin” yürütüldüğü T.C. Beyazıt Ford - Otosan İlköğretim Okulu’nda yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın çalışma grubuna adı geçen okulda 5., 6. ve 7. sınıfa devam etmekte olan üstün ve normal zihin düzeyinde performans gösteren toplam 129 öğrenci dahil edilmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri “Çok Boyutlu Mükemmeliyetçilik Ölçeği”, “Çocuk Depresyon Ölçeği” ve “Çocuklar İçin Sürekli Kaygı Ölçeği” kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Bulgular zekâ düzeylerinin öğrencilerin depresyon, mükemmeliyetçilik ve sürekli kaygı düzeylerini etkilemediğini ortaya koymuştur.
