The Female-Dominated Period in Italian Politics in the Context of the Hegemonic Feminist Epistemic Approach

Abstract

This study focuses on the counter-hegemonic feminist approach to examine the breaking of the tradition of male-dominated leadership in politics. To understand the break in the mentioned tradition, the leadership cycle in Italy, one of the founding member states of the European Union (EU) comes across as a critical case. The appointment of Meloni in 2022, the first female prime minister in history of Italy is a breaking point for Italian politics. It is important to evaluate descriptive representation in Italian politics in the context of feminist epistemic justice. On the other hand, it is not correct to predict that women leaders will conduct politics with a purely feminist approach. Meloni's attitude away from a feminist approach has been attracting attention since she took office, and it seems that she has stayed away from a style that positively discriminates against women. The study, with literature review method also uses dicourse analysis to link the example of Italy with epistemic justice in women's representation.

Hegemonik Feminist Epistemik Yaklaşım Bağlamında İtalya Siyasetinde Kadın Egemen Dönem
