Child neglect and abuse is a global public health problem that negatively affects the physical and psychosocial development of children and is seen all over the world. Teachers play an important role in the detection and forensic reporting of child neglect and abuse. In this study, a bibliometric analysis of postgraduate theses on child neglect and abuse involving teachers in Türkiye between 2008-2024 was conducted. This research is a descriptive survey study and was conducted by bibliometric analysis method. The National Thesis Centre database was searched with the keywords ‘teacher, child abuse, child neglect, abuse, neglect, awareness and knowledge level. The inclusion criteria were that the sample consisted of teachers or pre-service teachers and that the theses were open access. A total of 54 theses that met these criteria constituted the sample of the study. In this study, it was determined that the majority of the theses were master's level, quantitative in design and descriptive in type. In more than half of the theses, one measurement tool was used. It was determined that the most commonly used scale was the “Scale for Diagnosing the Symptoms and Risks of Child Abuse and Neglect”. While the majority of the studies addressed the issue of child abuse and neglect with a holistic approach, there are fewer theses focusing on physical, sexual and emotional abuse. It was determined that the studies mainly involved preschool teachers. The study underlines the importance of studies on child neglect and abuse on teachers. In all faculties of education, studies to increase awareness of child neglect and abuse should be supported.
Çocuk ihmali ve istismarı, çocuğun fiziksel ve psikososyal gelişimini olumsuz etkileyen ve dünyanın her yerinde görülebilen halk sağlığı sorunudur. Öğretmenler çocuk ihmal istismarının tespit edilmesinde ve adli bildiriminde önemli rol oynamaktadırlar. Bu çalışmada, 2008-2024 yılları arasında Türkiye’de çocuk ihmal istismar konusunda öğretmenleri kapsayan lisansüstü tezlerin bibliyometrik analizinin yapılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırma, tanımlayıcı nitelikte bir tarama çalışmasıdır ve bibliyometrik analiz yöntemiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ulusal Tez Merkezi veri tabanında “öğretmen, çocuk istismarı, çocuk ihmali, istismar, ihmal, farkındalık ve bilgi düzeyi” anahtar kelimeleriyle tarama yapılmıştır. Örneklemin öğretmenler veya öğretmen adaylarından oluşması ve tezlerin açık erişimli olması, çalışmaya dahil edilme kriterleri olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu kriterlere uygun toplam 54 tez, araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışma da tezlerin büyük çoğunluğunun yüksek lisans düzeyinde, nicel desende ve tanımlayıcı tipte olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Tezlerin yarısından fazlasında bir ölçüm aracı kullanılmıştır. En yaygın kullanılan ölçeğin “Çocuk İstismarı ve İhmalinin Belirti ve Risklerini Tanılama Ölçeği” olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışmaların büyük çoğunluğu çocuk ihmal ve istismarı konusunu bütüncül bir yaklaşımla ele alırken, daha az sayıda da olsa fiziksel, cinsel ve duygusal istismara odaklanan tezler bulunmaktadır. Çalışmaların ağırlıklı olarak okul öncesi öğretmenlerini kapsadığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma çocuk ihmal istismarı konusunda öğretmenler üzerinde yapılan çalışmaların önemli olduğunun altını çizmektedir. Eğitim fakültelerinin tamamında, çocuk ihmal ve istismarı konusundaki farkındalığı artırmaya yönelik çalışmalar desteklenmelidir.
