This research seeks to explore the extent to which al-Baghawī employed the principles of "interpreting the Qur’an through the Sunnah" in his exegesis. It addresses the central question concerning the boundaries of applying this principle, alongside subsidiary questions related to identifying its foundations and methodological regulations, as well as exploring how al-Baghawī applied it in interpreting Qur’anic verses. The research seeks to highlight the methodological parameters of this exegetical approach and to demonstrate al-Baghawī’s attention to the principle of "interpreting the Qur’an through the Sunnah" and the ways in which he utilized it in his exegetical work. The researcher adopted two complementary methods: the inductive method, which involves tracing al-Baghawī’s exegesis and extracting instances where he employed this principle, and the analytical method, which aims to reveal how he applied the foundations of interpreting the Qur’an through the Sunnah and to assess the extent of his reliance upon them. The study concludes that al-Baghawī devoted significant attention to interpreting the Qur’an through the Sunnah, whether directly or indirectly, by employing prophetic traditions to derive Qur’anic meanings and citing them even when their connection to the verse was remote. He also relied on hadiths for linguistic corroboration of Qur’anic vocabulary, offering explanations when ambiguities arose, and further utilized them in weighing different exegetical opinions, favoring interpretations consistent with the prophetic traditions.

Bu çalışma, Begavî’nin tefsirinde "Kur'ân'ın Sünnet ile tefsiri" usûlünü ne ölçüde kullandığını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma, öncelikle bu ilkenin kullanım sınırlarını konu edinen temel soruya odaklanmakta; bunun yanı sıra Kur'ân'ın Sünnet ile tefsirinin esaslarını ve metodolojik ölçütlerini belirleme, ayrıca Begavî'nin bu kaideyi ayetlerin tefsirinde nasıl uyguladığına dair alt soruları ele almaktadır. Çalışmanın hedefi, bu tür tefsirin metodolojik çerçevesini ortaya koymak ve Begavî'nin “Kur'ân'ın Sünnet ile tefsiri” ilkesine gösterdiği ilgiyi ve onu tefsirinde kullanma yollarını açıklığa kavuşturmaktır. Çalışmada iki araştırma yöntemi esas almıştır: Begavî'nin tefsirini incelemek ve söz konusu kaideyi kullandığı yerleri tespit etmek üzere istikrâî (inceleme/tümevarım) yöntem ve bunun nasıl uygulandığını, Kur'ân'ın Sünnet ile tefsirinden ne ölçüde yararlanıldığını ortaya koymayı amaçlayan analitik yöntem. Çalışmanın ulaştığı sonuçlara göre Begavî, Kur'ân'ın Sünnet ile tefsirine doğrudan veya dolaylı biçimde büyük önem atfetmektedir. O, hadisleri Kur'ânî anlamların istinbatında yoğun biçimde kullanmakta ve ayetlerle bağlantısı uzak da olsa onları tefsirinde zikretmektedir. Benzer şekilde hadisleri Kur'ân lafızlarının dilsel açıklamasında şahit olarak kullanmakta, ifadelerinde kapalılık bulunduğunda onları açıklamaktadır. Ayrıca Begavî, farklı görüşler arasında tercih yaparken hadisleri bir ölçüt olarak kullanmakta ve bu doğrultuda, rivayetlerle uyumlu olan anlamları öncelikle benimsemektedir.
