The aim of this study is to examine the problems that arose during the relocation process of schools in Kayseri province that were evacuated on the grounds of being earthquake-vulnerable following the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, as well as the experiences of school headteachers and their proposed solutions. Conducted using the case study design within qualitative research methods, the study group comprises a total of 26 school principals from 13 evacuated schools and 13 schools for which an evacuation decision was made in Kayseri province, selected using maximum diversity sampling from purposive sampling methods. A semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool in the study. The data obtained were analysed using content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. The findings of the study indicate that schools relocated following the earthquake faced issues such as management challenges, changes in the educational environment, the transition to double-shift schooling, an increase in class sizes, a deterioration in the school climate, and peer bullying. School principals proposed solutions such as the coordinated provision of post-disaster psychosocial support services, the creation of an earthquake action plan for each school, the provision of emergency equipment, and the raising of earthquake awareness. The study emphasises that schools play a significant role in earthquake education and disaster management.
Bu araştırmanın amacı, Kahramanmaraş depremi sonrası Kayseri ilinde depreme dayanıksız olduğu gerekçesiyle tahliye edilen okulların taşınma sürecinde ortaya çıkan sorunları, okul müdürlerinin deneyimlerini ve çözüm önerilerini incelemektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum çalışması deseninde yürütülen bu araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden maksimum çeşitlilik örneklemesi ile belirlenen, Kayseri ilindeki 13 tahliye edilen ve 13 tahliye kararı alınan okuldan toplam 26 okul müdürü oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ve betimsel analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın bulguları, deprem sonrası taşınan okulların yönetim, eğitim ortamı, ikili eğitime geçiş, sınıf mevcutları artışı, okul ikliminin bozulması ve akran zorbalığı gibi sorunlarla karşılaştığını göstermektedir. Okul müdürleri, afet sonrası psikososyal destek hizmetlerinin koordineli verilmesi, her okul için deprem iş planı oluşturulması, acil donanım temini ve deprem farkındalığının artırılması gibi çözüm önerilerinde bulunmuşlardır. Araştırma, okulların deprem eğitimi ve afet yönetiminde önemli bir rol üstlendiğini vurgulamaktadır.
