<p>Primary teachers have important role in students’ science learning process in science education. This study investigates primary prospective teachers’ level of understanding of the “heat, temperature and change of state” concepts. 30 prospective primary school teachers who are fourth class from Çanakkale 18 Mart University participated to the study. In this study, semi structured interview questions were used. In interview form, it was prepared 6 questions related to heat, temperature, and change of state. Data was collected by individual interviews with prospective primary school teachers Given answers examined in four category. These answers are: scientifically true, contain misconceptions, not sufficient, not given. This study concludes that prospective primary school teachers’ understanding of related concepts is not sufficient and they have misconceptions related these concepts. Finally, to remediate those misconceptions and to lead conceptual learning, a concept analysis and suggestions for teaching were presented in the light of the findings of this study and the literature</p></trans-abstract>
