Purpose and Scope

Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education began to be published in 2005. It has been issued in three volumes (April, August and December) a year since 2012. Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education as a peer-refereed academic journal aims to contribute to the educational theories and practices, and covers the original research articles and compilations with a scientific quality at the national/international level. More specifically, Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education is a refereed academic journal, which publishes quantitative and qualitative research on current issues in all fields of education. Additionally, some of the critical and up-to-date topics related to education that are discussed from the theoretical perspectives, and the results of the practical studies are also published in the journal. In this context, original works of qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method studies of different fields of education (educational sciences, foreign languages ​​education, social science and Turkish education, fine arts education, basic education, science, and mathematics education, computer and instructional technology education and special education) are being published. It is expected that the studies to be accepted in the journal should provide new and unique contributions to the theoretical and practical aspects of education. It has been issued as e-journal (e-ISSN: 1306-7850) since Volume 1, 2010.

As the Journal is at open access via JournalPark system, the authors are charged with no fees at sending, assessing and publishing the article.  


Open Access Policy

Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to any users or institutions. Except for commercial purposes and providing appropriate credit to the original work (if necessary), all users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the published articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or author(s) as stated in the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.


Peer Review Process

Since the assessment process of the journal goes electronically, the authors must send their manuscripts via JournalPark (OJS) by organizing them according to the SAMPLE TEMPLATE. The manuscript is firstly directed to the domain expert editor. At this point, Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education checks all the articles via iThenticate software in order to prevent plagiarism. If it results in similarity of 15% or more, the author is informed about this and the article is declined. After pre-assessment of the manuscript in terms of form and content, the domain expert editor sends it to at least two referees who have doctoral degree (PhD). The manuscript is taken into process of assessment attached to “Referee Assessment Form” without name(s) and personal information of the author(s). the referees are given 20 days at this stage. They may accept the manuscript as it is, request little or detailed revision, or decline it. Following that, the manuscripts to be revised are sent back to the author(s) with referee comments/suggestions. The manuscript can be issued provided that two or more referees report as “issuable”; however, the final decision to issue it belongs to the head of editorial board regarding referees’ assessment. The manuscripts accepted for publication are reviewed by Editorial Board.  


Copyright Notice

Author(s) must confirm by signing the Copyright Agreement Form that Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education retains all the copyrights of the articles published by this journal. 


Licensing

All articles published in this journal are open access articles and licensed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) that allows users to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format other than commercial purposes as well as remix, transform and build upon the material by providing appropriate credit to the original work.


Plagiarism Prevention

Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education takes issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practice in publication very seriously. We seek to protect the rights of our authors and we always investigate claims of plagiarism or misuse of articles published in the Journal. Submitted articles may be checked with duplication-checking software. At this point, Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education checks all the articles via iThenticate software in order to prevent plagiarism. If it results in similarity of 15% or more, the author is informed about this and the article is declined. Authors are requested to seek copyright permission for any material they use from external sources before submitting their article and should discuss this, if it arises, with the Editor. 


Privacy Statement

The author(s) is/are accountable for the ideas and views stated in the articles. All publication rights of the articles to be accepted as issuable belong to Mersin University Journal of the Faculty of Education indefinitely. The names and e-mail adresses on the website of this journal will be used in line with the stated purposes of the journal and will never be used for any other purposes.
