                                                                                                <abstract><p>Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Mersin ve çevresindeki baz istasyonlarının oluşturduğu elektromanyetik alan (EMA) şiddetinin ölçülmesi ve bu alanların sağlık üzerindeki olası etkilerinin incelenmesidir. Yöntem: Araştırmanın tipi kesitseldir. Temmuz 2024’te, Mersin’in altı farklı bölgesinde (yoğun ve düşük baz istasyonu bulunan) EMA ölçümleri gerçekleştirilmiş, 25-55 yaş arası 171 katılımcıya sosyodemografik bilgiler ve EMA’nın olası sağlık etkileri ile ilgili soruları içeren 15 maddelik bir anket uygulanmıştır. Çalışmada yüksek ve düşük EMA’ya maruz kalan bölgeler arasındaki farklar karşılaştırılmıştır. Verinin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistikler ki-kare testi, Kruskal-Wallis testi ve Binary Logistik Regresyon yapılmıştır. p≤0,05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Katılımcıların %58.5’i kadın, yaş ortalaması 39.6 (min-max 25-55) yıl olarak tespit edilmiştir. Katılımcıların %37.4’ü baş ağrısı, %31.0’ı halsizlik ve %30.4’ü sinirlilik gibi non-spesifik semptomlar bildirmiştir. Ancak, bu semptomların EMA seviyeleriyle doğrudan bir ilişkisinin olmadığı görülmüştür. Bazı ölçüm frekanslarında Yenişehir veya Merkez gibi baz istasyonu yoğunluğu yüksek olan bölgelerde EMA seviyeleri diğer bölgelere göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde yüksek bulunmuştur. Ancak tüm bölgelerde EMA değerlerinin Türkiye ve uluslararası limitlerin altında kaldığı tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: Çalışmada EMA maruziyetinin katılımcılar üzerinde belirgin bir olumsuz sağlık etkisi tespit edilmemiştir. Ayrıca ölçümler sınır değerlerin altında kalsa da uzun süreli maruziyet doz birikiminin de değerlendirilmesi için daha fazla çalışma yapılması gereklidir.</p></abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">
                            <p>Aim: The aim of this study is to measure the electromagnetic field (EMF) intensity generated by base stations in and around Mersin and to investigate the possible effects of these fields on health. Method: Type of the study is cross-sectional. In July 2024, EMF measurements were carried out in six different regions of Mersin (with high and low base stations), and a 15-item questionnaire including questions about socio-demographic information and possible health effects of EMF was applied to 171 participants between the ages of 25-55. The study compared differences between regions with high and low exposure to EMF. Descriptive statistics, chi-square test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Binary Logistic Regression were performed in the analysis of the data. p≤0,05 was accepted. Results: Among the participants, 58.5%  were female, and the mean age was  39.6 (min-max 25-55) years. Participants reported non-specific symptoms such as headache (37.4%), fatigue (31.0%) and irritability (30.4%). However, it was observed that these symptoms were not directly related to EMF levels. In certain measurement frequencies, regions with a high density of base stations, such as Yenişehir or Merkez, had significantly higher EMA levels compared to other regions. However, it was determined that EMF values were below Turkish and international limits in all regions. Conclusion: No significant adverse health effects of EMF exposure were detected among the participants in the study. In addition, although the measurements are below the limit values, further studies are required to evaluate the long-term exposure dose accumulation.</p></trans-abstract>
