                                                                                                <abstract><p>Ortodontik tedaviye olan ilginin artmasıyla birlikte özellikle erişkinve genç erişkin hastalarda kısa süreli ortodontik tedaviler daha fazla talepedilmeye başlanmıştır. Bu beklentiyi karşılayabilmek için diş hareketinihızlandıran yöntemler hakkında yapılan çalışmalar günümüzde daha önemli halegelmiştir ve bu çalışmalara olan ilgi her geçen gün daha da artmaktadır.Literatürde diş hareketini hızlandıran yöntemler; lokal-sistemik ilaçuygulamaları, mekanik-fiziksel stimülasyonlar ve cerrahi destekli uygulamalarolmak üzere genel olarak üç ana başlıkta incelenmektedir. Bu yöntemler arasındacerrahi destekli yöntemler ilk olarak uygulanmaya başlamış ve bu yöntemlerhakkında yapılan çalışmaların çoğunda başarılı sonuçlar elde edilmiştir. Derlememizdeliteratürde daha önceden belirtilmiş olan ortodontik diş hareketini hızlandırancerrahi destekli yöntemlerden ve tarihsel gelişimlerinden bahsedilecektir.</p></abstract>
