                            <p>Aim: Specializationtendency and choice of specialty are two essential issues in career planning ofmedical students and physicians, and career-planning preferences are shapedduring medical education. Methods:This cross-sectional study was planned to evaluate the career-planning andaffective factors among medical students and performed with the participationof 798 medical students. Results:First of all, 85,7% of the students had specialization tendency in their careerplans. Among the female students; specialty determining was observed higher infemale students, preclinic students and who have physicians and/or specialistin their family and relations than other groups of students. The most preferredspecialties are pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics and psychiatry. While themain causes for students who are planning career in a specialty are “to desireto working in a specific area provide professional satisfaction”, “status andcareer expectancy” and “concern for income”, the main causes for students whoare planning career in general practioner are “existence of Medical SpecialtyExamination”, “difficulty of residency period” and “national healthpolitics”. Conclusion: Identifying and discussing the specialization tendencyof physicians will play an important role in health workforce planning.</p></trans-abstract>
                                                                                                                                    <abstract><p>Amaç: Uzmanlaşmaeğilimi ve uzmanlık alanı seçimi tıp öğrencileri ve hekimlerin kariyerplanlamalarının iki temel unsurudur ve kariyer planlamasına yönelik tercihlertıp eğitimi sırasında şekillenmektedir. Bu çalışma tıp fakültesi öğrencilerininkariyer planlamaları ve etkileyen faktörleri değerlendirmek amacıylaplanlanmıştır. Yöntem: Kesitseltipteki çalışma 798 tıp öğrencisinin katılımı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin %85,7’sininkariyer planı uzmanlaşmaktır. Uzmanlaşma isteği kadınlarda, preklinik dönemde,aile ve akrabalarında hekim ve/veya uzman hekim bulunanlarda diğerlerinden dahayüksektir. En çok tercih edilen uzmanlık alanları Çocuk Sağlığı veHastalıkları, Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum ile Ruh Sağlığı ve Hastalıklarıdır.Uzmanlık yönünde kariyer planlaması yapan öğrencilerde temel gerekçeler“mesleki tatmin sağlayacak spesifik bir alanda çalışma isteği”, “statü vekariyer beklentisi” ile “maddi kaygılar” iken, pratisyen hekimlik yönündekariyer planlaması yapan öğrencilerde temel gerekçeler “Tıpta Uzmanlık Sınavınınvarlığı”, “Asistanlık sürecinin zorluğu“ ve “Ülkemizdeki sağlıkpolitikalarıdır”. Sonuç: Hekimlerinuzmanlaşma eğilimlerinin tespit edilmesi ve tartışılması sağlık insangücüplanlamasında önemli rol oynayacaktır.</p></abstract>
