In this research, emojis which could be accepted as nonverbal clues were examined. Speech texts based on Whatsapp messages were prepared, and these texts were ended with emojis. The same context which is presented to three different groups were ended with a happy emoji for the first group, whereas it was ended with a sad emoji for the second group. No emoji was used for the third group which is the control group. (e.g. Group1: abcd J, Group2: abcd L, Control Group: abcd). The individuals were asked to grade their and the sender’s emotions. The participants are expected to make affective decisions according to emojis and form an interaction in this direction. We expected that there would be a significant relation between the affective decision making processes in the social media platforms and the frequency of emoji use. It was discovered that the participants made emotional decisions according to emojis which could be used as nonverbal clues. There was not a significant relation between the affective decisions and the social media platforms while there occurs a negative relation between the affective decisions and the frequency of emoji use.
