Kurmanji and Sorani, as the two main dialects of Kurdish, have been in the process of self-revival for hundreds of years. Although these two dialects were written side by side in the same magazines and newspapers in Istanbul in modern times, they became distant from each other after the collapse of the Ottoman state and the break-up of the Kurds. Since then, due to some political conditions, Sorani has gained more opportunities for development than Kurmanji and has become a source dialect for new words and Kurmanji has borrowed many words from it. But due to distance and lack of direct communication some of these words are mis-borrowed. This article focuses on these misinterpretations and deals with the semantic, morphological and phonological confusions. On the other hand, it draws attention to some words that have been coined in Sorani, but are currently only used in Kurmanji, and they are also known as another problem of borrowing. To illustrate this point, we benefited from the main Kurdish dictionaries and important books, magazines and newspapers written in Kurmanji and Sorani dialects in which these words were used for the first time. On this basis, this article suggests that there is a special importance of intra-language borrowing words for the integration of Kurdish dialects, but in this borrowing prosses, the borrowed words should be used as original and avoid linguistic confusion.
