Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to determine students' knowledge level associated with the sound concept. In this study, it will be reviewed students' knowledge level based on the sound concept as the scope of their verbal descriptions and visual presentations. Convenience purposeful sampling was used in this descriptive research and volunteers students were invited to participate since it was aimed to investigate the knowledge levels in depth. The sample consists of total 30 9th grade pupils (18 female and 12 male) studying in Rize Private Kopuzlar High School. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher and comprised of open-ended questions was used as the data collecting tool. The findings indicate that students have different knowledge levels about a source of sound, sound generation and characteristics of sound associated with the sound the concept: level 2, level 3, level 4 and level 5. It is observed that the vast majority of students have scientific opinion and also some students have false or do not enough knowledge about the concept of sound. In this stage, it should be taken into consideration that learning the wrong which is students have or may occur effects other learning and also this situation will affect student achievement.
Abstract
Bu çalışmada ses kavramına ilişkin öğrencilerin bilgi düzeylerinin belirlenmesi hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaçla öğrencilerin ses kavramına ilişkin sözel açıklamaları ve görsel sunumları baz alınarak incelenmiştir. Betimsel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak yürütülen bu çalışmada, amaçlı örneklem seçimi yapılmış ve çalışmanın amacına ulaşmasına katkıda bulunabilecek gönüllü öğrenciler ile çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini Rize Özel Kopuzlar Lisesi 9.sınıf öğrencilerinden 18’i kız 12’si erkek olmak üzere toplam 30 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen açık uçlu soruların yer aldığı yarı yapılandırılmış bir görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, öğrencilerin ses kavramına ait farklı bilgi düzeylerinin varlığı tespit edilmiştir: seviye 2, seviye 3, seviye 4 ve seviye 5. Öğrencilerin büyük bir çoğunluğunun ses kavramı hakkında bilimsel anlamda tutarlı bir kanıya sahip olmasının yanında, yanlış bilgiye ya da yeterli bilgiye sahip olmayan öğrencilerin de olduğu görülmektedir.
