Abstract
Among the duties of the newspapers are reporting news, forming public opinion, directing, reflecting the public opinion, informing, training, entertaining, umpiring, contributing to the economical life etc In the headlines accepted as the window of the newspapers carrying out these duties, a different language defined as the "media language" and not faced with at the normal writing rules is used to attract attention, to affect the readers and to increase the sale of the newspapers. In this study, it has been aimed at putting the structural feautures of the mentioned language and the forms of its usage forward. By using scientifical methods, the periodically followed newspapers have been analysed comparatively with regard to the structure of the headlines, their length, adjective usage, tense selection and semantics.

Abstract
Gazetelerin; haber verme, kamuoyu oluşturma, yönlendirme, kamuoyunu yansıtma, bilgilendirme, eğitme, eğlendirme, hakemlik yapma, ekonomik yaşama katkıda bulunma vb. görevleri bulunmaktadır. Bu görevleri yerine getiren gazetelerin vitrini olarak da kabul gören manşetlerde, dikkat çekmek, okuyucuları etkilemek ve gazete satışını gerçekleştirmek/artırmak amacıyla, normal yazım kurallarında rastlanılmayan ve "basın dili" olarak tanımlanan farklı bir dil kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, söz konusu farklı dilin yapısal özelliklerinin ve kullanım şekillerinin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Periyodik olarak takip edilen gazeteler bilimsel yöntemler kullanılarak; manşetlerin yapıları, uzunluğu, sıfat kullanımı, zaman seçimi ve semantik yönünden karşılaştırmalı olarak analiz edilmiştir.
