Student Opinions About The Academic Nature Camp

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the views of the students participating in the academic camp, where the activities that were originally designed by the researchers carried out in the Nebiyan Mountain National Park, which is located within the borders of the province of Samsun. The study group consisted of 17 students who volunteered to participate in the camp. Games and activities related to various disciplines have been carried out in the classroom, which lasted for one night and two days. Science and mathematics education, music and visual arts activities, orienteering, climbing, walking and sportive activities were also included for the activities. In the study, the data were collected through semi-structured interviews with the students in the end of all activities. In the interviews, their wives’ about the camp was asked to the participants. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed using qualitative research techniques. When all the findings are considered as a whole, it was determined that the participants included in the study liked the activities and felt more free in the camp environment. They stated that staying in a tent was a new experience for them. These statements are considered as the finding that the study has achieved its purpose. It is recommended to expand these types of camps and expand them to cover different subject areas.

Akademik Doğa Kampına Yönelik Öğrenci Görüşleri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada amaç, Samsun ili sınırları içinde yer alan Nebiyan Dağı Milli Parkı’nda gerçekleştirilen araştırmacılar tarafından özgün olarak tasarlanmış etkinliklerin gerçekleştirildiği akademik kampa katılan öğrencilerin, kamp ile ilgili görüşlerini belirlemektir. Çalışma grubunu kampa katılmaya gönüllü olan 17 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Bir gece iki gün süren sınıf dışı eğitim ortamında, çeşitli disiplinlere ilişkin oyunlar ve etkinlikler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan etkinlikler için de fen ve matematik eğitimleri, müzik ve görsel sanatlar etkinlikleri, oryantiring, tırmanış, yürüyüş ve sportif aktiviteler yer almıştır. Çalışmada veriler, tüm aktivitelerin sona ermesiyle birlikte kampa katılan öğrenciler ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ile toplanmıştır. Yapılan görüşmeler sırasında katılımcılara; kampa ilişkin görüşleri sorulmuştur. Görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler, nitel araştırma teknikleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bulguların tamamı bir bütün olarak ele alındığında, çalışmaya dâhil olan katılımcıların, yapılan etkinlikleri beğendiği ve kendilerini kamp ortamında daha özgür hissettikleri belirlenmiştir. Özellikle çadırda kalmanın kendileri için yeni bir deneyim olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Bu ifadeler çalışmanın amacına ulaştığının bulgusu olarak düşünülmektedir. Bu tip kampların yaygınlaştırılması ve farklı konu alanlarını da kapsayacak şekilde genişletilmesi önerilmektedir.
