The study was carried out to reveal the factors that
constitute the “glass ceiling” which affects the career processes of women in
accounting profession. The survey method was chosen in the study. The prepared
questionnaires were applied to women and men Certified Public Accountants
operating in central districts of Antalya. The result of the analysis
demonstrate that according to gender individual and organizational factors,
according to the number of workplace change organizational and social factors
and according to marital status and
having children individual and social factors are differentiate. Men in accounting profession
believe more in the idea of there is gender discrimination in business life and
women are more emotional, and more likely to be inadequate in terms of traits
such as ambition, leadership and ability, than women. Also men accountants have
more involvement in the idea of existence of self-induced barriers of women and
taking multiple roles will have negative impact on the professional career of
women.
