This article tries to explain the dimensions and boundaries of the moral collapse of the Ottoman Empire, which has been sober and intense in the most depressing, dismal and unfortunate period, in the light of the poems of Âşık Ömer who is a poet and very good observer. Allude to of the events of concepts to which poems imply, first a brief information about the general situation of the century was given and then we look at the cultural degeneration of the century from the literary perspective. In the article, the Divân which contains the poem of 1455 of Aşık Ömer was taken as basis.
Bumakalede velut bir şair ve çok iyi bir gözlemci olan Âşık Ömer’in şiirlerindenhareketle Osmanlı Devleti’nin en buhranlı, kasvetli ve talihsiz asrında tebârüzve temerküz etmiş olan ahlakî çöküntünün boyutları ve sınırları tespit edilmeyeçalışılmıştır. Şiirlerin göndermede bulunduğu hâdiselerin ve kavramlarınsomutlaştırılması adına evvela yüzyılın genel durumu hakkında kısa bir bilgiverilmiş, ardından yüzyılın kültürel yozlaşmasına edebî zâviyeden bakılmıştır.Makalede Âşık Ömer’in 1455 şiirini ihtiva eden Divân’ı esas alınmıştır.
