Year 2021, Volume: 12 Issue: 3, 233 - 244, 20.12.2021

Abstract

Katılımcıların skapular kassal endurans testi 50,71±29,37 saniye, duvarda push-up testi 30,17±19,70 tekrar bulundu. Katılımcıların %27,8’inde (n=25) izometrik skapular tutam testi pozitif bulundu.

EXAMINATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SCAPULAR DYSKINESIA AND SCAPULAR ENDURANCE

Year 2021, Volume: 12 Issue: 3, 233 - 244, 20.12.2021

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of scapular dyskinesia on scapular endurance and the relationship between dyskinesia and endurance in asymptomatic individuals. Scapular dyskinesia tests (lateral scapular slide test, scapular assistance test, scapular retraction test) and scapular muscular endurance tests (scapular muscular endurance test, push-up test on the wall, isometric scapular pinch test) were performed bilaterally. Ninety participants (female: 58.9%; male: 41.1%) aged 22.45±3.19 years were included in the study. The dominant extremity of 97.8% of the participants was right. Scapular dyskinesia was found in 34.4% of the lateral scapular slide test at 0° and 45°, and 36.7% at 90°. The positivity in scapular retraction test and scapular assistance test was higher on the dominant side. Participants' scapular muscular endurance test was 50.71±29.37 seconds, and push-up test was 30.17±19.70 times. The isometric scapular pinch test was positive in 27.8% (n=25) of the participants. The pain felt by the participants during the isometric scapular pinch test was 1.74±2.60 points. Scapular muscular endurance test results were found to be lower in groups with positive lateral scapular slide test (p<0.05). Isometric scapular pinch test results were found to be significantly different only in 90° of lateral scapular slide test (p<0.05). According to the scapular retraction test and scapular assistance test, the results of the scapular muscular endurance test and the push-up test of the dominant sides of the subgroups that were positive were calculated to be lower (p<0.05). There was no correlation between the pain scores felt by the participants during the isometric scapular pinch test with the results of the scapular muscular endurance test and the push-up test (p>0.05). Scapular endurance decreases in the presence of scapular dyskinesia. This is especially evident in the presence of scapular dyskinesia in the dominant extremity. The relationship between the pain felt during the isometric scapular pinch test and the result of the scapular dyskinesia tests has not been determined.
