ÖzetModernleşme yönünde birçok alanda yeniliklerin yapıldığı Tanzimat döneminde kızların eğitimi konusunda da birtakım gelişmeler yaşanmıştır. 1838 yılında rüşdiye seviyesinde ilk okulların, 1859 yılında da ilk kız rüşdiyesi olan Cevri Kalfa İnas Rüşdiyesinin açılması bu alanda atılan önemli adımlardır. Bu döneme kadar yalnızca sıbyan mekteplerinde eğitim gören kız çocukları rüşdiyelerle birlikte daha iyi bir eğitim alma imkânı bulmuşlardır. Eğitim sistemi ve kurumların yapılandırılması adına önemli bir dönüm noktası olan Maarif-i Umumiye Nizamnamesinde hem erkek hem de kız rüşdiyeleri konusuna detaylı bir şekilde yer verilmiş, Sultan II. Abdülhamit döneminde ise yapısal birtakım değişikliklerle birlikte bu okulların sayısı giderek artmıştır. Çalışmamızın amacı, İstanbul’dan sonra vilayetlerde açılan ilk kız rüşdiyelerinden biri olan Selanik İnas Rüşdiye Mektebinin kuruluşu, gelişim süreci, fiziki koşulları, personel ve öğrenci durumu, dersleri ve vilayet için önemini erişilebilen veriler ışığında inceleyerek Osmanlı’nın son döneminde kızların eğitimi konusunda yapılan çalışmalara katkı sağlamaktır.AbstractDuring the Tanzimat period, in which changes were made in many areas towards the direction of modernization, there were also some developments about the education of girls. The foundation of rüşdiye schools in 1838 and for girls in 1859, the Cevri Kalfa Rüşdiye School for girls, are among the important steps taken in this area. Until this period, there were only sıbyan schools for girls, but with rüşdiye schools’ girls had the opportunity to receive further education. The Regulation of Public Education, which is an important turning point for the educational system and institutions, the subject of both boys and girls rüşdiye schools was given in detail. During the reign of Abdülhamit, the number of these schools increased gradually with some structural changes.The aim of our study is to examine the establishment and development of Thessaloniki Rüşdiye School for Girls, one of the first rüşdiyes opened in the provinces after Istanbul, as well as its physical conditions, staff and students, and the courses. Based on available information, the significance of Thessaloniki Rüşdiye School for Girls will be revealed for the province of Thessaloniki and hence the study is intended to contribute to studies on female education in the last period of the Ottoman Empire.
