Bu çalışmada III. Selim’in tebdil gezerken kullandığı kıyafetler, silahlar ve aletler incelenmiştir. Pek çok kaynakta III. Selim’in tebdil gezerken humbaracı kılığına büründüğü yazılmakla birlikte, Osmanlı Arşivi’nde bulunan iki belge, kalyoncu, Boşnak, pirpiri, Laz ve Çingene kıyafetlerinin III. Selim’in tebdîl-i kıyafet takımları içinde yer aldığına delalet ediyor. Özellikle 1792 tarihli belgede kayıtlı olan kıyafet takımları ayrıntılı bir biçimde, rengi, kumaşı, süslemeleri belirtilerek kaydedilmiştir. Kıyafetlerin yanı sıra III. Selim’in tebdil gezerken kullandığı silahlar ve alet-edevat da, özellikleri ve süslemeleriyle birlikte kaydedilmiştir. Böylece bu iki belge sayesinde sadece III. Selim’in tebdîl-i kıyafet takımlarını oluşturan kılık-kıyafetleri değil, dönemin silahları ve bu silahlarla ilgili olan alet-edevatı hakkında da bilgi sahibi olabiliyoruz. Yalnız bu belgelerde ayak giyimine dair herhangi bir bilgiye rastlanmamıştır. Kıyafetlerde, başlıklarda, silahlarda ve silah kınlarında renk olarak açık leylak, armudî?, barudî, beyaz, burucî?, camgöbeği, çağla rengi, dudu burnu, fıstıkî, güvez, hünnabî, kahverengi, kırmızı, kimyonî, leylak, mavi, mor, neftî, nohudî, pembe, sarı, siyah, şerbetî, turuncu ve yeşil kullanılmıştır. Kıyafetlerin ve başlıkların büyük bir kısmı çuhadan yapılmıştır. Çuhanın yanı sıra aba, bez, şâlî, çitari, atlas ve keçe kullanılmıştır. Silah kınlarında deri olarak en çok sağrı, kumaş olarak kadife ve çuha kullanılmıştır. Demir ve şirmâhî de kın yapımında kullanılan diğer malzemelerdir. Kıyafetlerin süslenmesinde kaytanlı klabdaniçe, şemse ve sırma işleme kullanılırken silahlarda ve kınlarında zümrüt, yakut, elmas, mercan, la’l gibi değerli taşların yanı sıra altın ve gümüş, mine işi, sırma işleme, sim kakma kullanıldığı görülmektedir
In the present study, the clothes, weapons, and tools used by Selim III, when he was incognito, were investigated. Although a number of sources indicated that Selim III preferred the humbaracı bombardier costume, when he was incognito, the two documents found in the Ottoman Archives provide evidence as regards the fact that sailor, Bosnian, pirpiri merchant , Laz and Gypsy clothes were also included in his set of incognito costumes. Particularly, the clothing sets as registered in the document dated 1792, were recorded in detail by specifying the colour, fabric, and decorations. In addition to clothes, the weapons and tools-equipment used by Selim III during his incognito tours were also recorded along with their features and ornaments. Thus, thanks to these two documents, we can have information not only about the clothing that made up Selim III's incognito costumes, but also about the weapons of the time and the tools and equipment associated with these weapons. Only that these documents did not reveal any information about foot wear. Light lilac, armudî pear colour ?, barudi slate-gray , white, buruci?, cyan, green almond colour, dudu burnu reddish yellow , fıstıkî pistachio colour , güvez purple-red , hünnabî jujubi colour , brown, red, cumin, lilac, blue, purple, neftî naphta coloured/dark green , nohudî chickpea coloured , pink, yellow, black, şerbetî sherbet colour , orange, and green were used in clothings, caps, weapons, and scabbards. Most of the clothes and caps were made of broadcloth. In addition to the cloth, aba, cloth, shali angora , chitari silk and cotton , atlas satin , and felt were used. In the scabbards, shagreen was mostly used as leather and velvet and broadcloth were used as fabric. Iron and whale tooth were the other materials used in scabbard making. It was seen that braided klabdaniçe, şemse ornamentation in the shape of sun , and purl were used to decorate the garments, while precious stones such as emeralds, rubies, diamonds, corals, and garnets as well as gold and silver, enamel work, purl, glitter inlays were used in the weapons and scabbards
