“Euterpe Olerecea” nın Antioksidan ve Öğrenme –Bellek Üzerindeki Etkileri

Abstract

Öğrenme ve bellek bozuklukları; yaşam kalitesini olumsuz yönde
etkileyen birçok hastalıkla primer veya sekonder olarak ilişkilidir. Öğrenme ve
bellek, çevreden gelen uyaranların değerlendirilmesi ve uygun davranışların
geliştirilmesi gibi temel zihinsel süreçleri düzenler. İnsanlar
gerçekleştirdikleri her işlemde bilinçli veya bilinçsiz olarak bellek
işlevlerine başvururlar. Kognitif bozukluklar başta demans ve Alzheimer
hastalığı olmak üzere; şizofreni, depresyon, anksiyete, uyku bozuklukları,
dikkat eksikliği ve hiperaktivite, madde bağımlılığı gibi birçok durumla
ilişkilendirilmektedir. Alzheimer hastalığının erken dönemlerinde ortaya çıkan
kognitif bozulmalar, episodik bellek ve uzamsal oryantasyon yeteneğinde
gerileme ile başlar.



Dünya Sağlık Örgütü verilerine göre Alzheimer hastalığı dünya çapında
47. 5 milyon kişi etkilemişken her yıl bu sayıya 7. 7 milyon yeni vaka
eklenmektedir. Son yıllarda çok sayıda çalışmada, Açai bitkisi ekstraktı olarak
da bilinen Euterpe olerecea’nın Parkinson ve Alzheimer gibi nörodejeneratif
hastalıkların riskini azalttığı, serebral kortekste %48 civarında, hipokampusta
yaklaşık %64 ve serebellumda yaklaşık %72 olmak üzere nöroprotektif etki  ve 
beyin hücrelerinde oluşan inflamasyon ve oksidatif hasarın
azaltılmasında başarı sağladığı gösterilmiştir.

The Effects of Euterpe Olerecea on Learning and Memory and Antioxidant Parameters

Abstract

Learning and memory disorders are associated primarily or
secondarily with  many diseases that
adversely  affect the  quality of life.  Learning and memory regulates main cognitive
processes evaluating stimulus from environmental and improving suitable
behaviours. People consciously or unconsciously apply to memory functions in all
processes they performed. Cognitive disorders are associated with mainly
dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and also with many conditions such as
schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, insomnia, attention deficit and
hyperactivity disorder. Cognitive disorders which arise at early stages of
Alzheimer’s disease introduce as 
regression in the episodic memory and spatial orientation skills.
According to the data of World Health Organization ; 47.5 million people have
dementia worldwide and 7.7 million new cases ocur every year. Some studies show
that Euterpe olerecea, known as extract of Açai plant, decreases the risk of
neurodejenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease,
exerted neuroprotective effects on cerebral cortex around 48%, hippocampus
about 64%, and cerebellum about 72% and 
was reported to be successful at reducing inflammation and oxidative
damage in brain.
