Measuring the Retrospective Analysis of Patients with Sudden Hearing Loss

Abstract

The
aim of this study was to analyze the patients who treated with the diagnosis of
sudden hearing loss in our clinic retrospectively, evaluate the success of
combined medical treatment and emphasize the importance of radiology in
etiological evaluation. In this study, 
71 patients who were diagnosed with sudden hearing loss and treated in
our clinic between 2012 and 2016 were evaluated retrospectively. Patients'
ages, genders, complaints associated with hearing loss, time of sudden hearing
loss, duration of hospital admission, hospital admissions season, history,
pathologic physical examination findings, audiological test findings at
admission, radiological examinations and post-treatment audiological test
results were evaluated. The mean age of patients admitted to our clinic with
sudden hearing loss was 44 (6-89) years. Seven (9.9%) of the patients were
younger than 18 years old and 18 (25.3%) of the patients were older than 60
years. 39 patients (54.9%) were male and 32 patients (45.1%) were female.
Sudden hearing loss was unilateral in 61 patients (85.9%) and bilateral in 10
patients (14.1%). Radiological pathology was found in 19 (35.1%) of 54 patients
who underwent radiological examination. According to the audiological
evaluation after treatment, 29 (47.5%) of 61 patients with unilateral sudden
hearing loss, hearing threshold values were decreased. Hearing gain was
obtained in 7 (%70) of 10 patients with bilateral sudden hearing loss. Systemic
evaluation and radiological examinations are essential while investigating the
etiology of sudden hearing loss. Early admission and early treatment are
important to provide hearing gain.

Ani İşitme Kayıplı Hastaların Retrospektif Analizi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, ani
işitme kaybı tanısı ile kliniğimizde tedavi edilen hastaların retrospektif
analizini yapmak, kombine medikal tedavinin başarısını değerlendirmek ve
etiyolojik değerlendirmede radyolojinin önemini vurgulamayı amaçlamaktayız. Bu
çalışmada 2012 ile 2016 yılları arasında kliniğimizde ani işitme kaybı tanısı
konulan ve yatırılarak tedavi edilen 71 hasta retrospektif olarak
değerlendirildi. Hastaların yaşları, cinsiyetleri, işitme kaybına eşlik eden
şikâyetleri, ani işitme kaybının başladığı zaman, hastaneye başvurma süresi,
hastane başvurma mevsimi, özgeçmişleri, hastalarda saptanan patolojik fizik
muayene bulguları, başvuru anındaki odyolojik test bulguları, radyolojik
tetkikleri ve tedavi sonrası odyolojik test sonuçları değerlendirildi. Ani
işitme kaybı şikâyeti ile kliniğimize başvuran hastaların yaş ortalaması 44     (6-89 ) yıl olarak hesaplanmıştır.
Hastaların 7’si (%9,9) 18 yaşından küçük iken, 18’i (%25,3) 60 yaşından büyük
hastadır. Hastaların 39’u erkek (%54,9) , 32’si (%45,1) ise kadın hasta olarak
saptanmıştır. Ani işitme kaybı 61 hastada (%85,9) tek taraflı iken, 10 hastada
(%14.1) bilateral olduğu saptanmıştır. Radyolojik incelemesi yapılan 54
hastanın 19’unda (%35,1) radyolojik patoloji saptanmıştır. Tedavi sonrası
yapılan odyolojik değerlendirmelerde; tek taraflı ani işitme kaybı olan 61
hastanın 29’unda (%47,5) işitme eşik değerlerinde kazanç elde edilirken,
bilateral ani işitme kaybı olan 10 hastanın 7’sinde işitme kazancı
saptanmıştır. Ani işitme kaybında etiyoloji araştırılırken sistemik
değerlendirme ve radyolojik tetkikler birlikte kullanılmalıdır. Erken başvuru ve
erken başlanan tedavi işitme kazancı sağlamada önemlidir.
