Hemşirelerde Stres Düzeyi ve Deprem Travmasının Stres Düzeyine Etkisinin İncelenmesi

Year 2024, Volume: 7 Issue: 2, 435 - 445
https://doi.org/10.38108/ouhcd.1363900

Abstract

Bulgular: Hemşirelerin yaş ortalaması 29.93±6.36 olup, %62.5’i kadındır.

Investigation of Stress Level of Nurses and the Effect of Earthquake Trauma on Stress Level

Year 2024, Volume: 7 Issue: 2, 435 - 445
https://doi.org/10.38108/ouhcd.1363900

Abstract

Objective: The study aims to examine nurses' stress levels and the effect of trauma after an earthquake on stress levels.
Methods: The sample of the study consisted of 248 nurses (n=430) working in a training and research hospital. In the collection of data, Individual Descriptive Information Form, Nurse Stress Scale (NSS) and Post-earthquake Trauma Level Determination Scale (PETLDS) were used.
Results: The mean age of the nurses was 29.93±6.36, of which 62.5% were women. The total mean score of the nurses in the NSS and PETLDS was calculated as 83.84±18.50 and 59.14±13.80, respectively. While Nurses' NSS scores did not differ according to age, gender, marital status, educational status, presence of any health problem, smoking status, working style and weekly working hours (p>0.05); they vary according to the duration of professional experience and experience in the current unit, satisfaction with the unit worked and the way of working (p<0.05). It was determined that there was a moderate positive correlation between earthquake anxiety and stress levels in nurses (r=0.319).
Conclusion: Nurses, who struggled with many stress factors while continuing their profession, gave care to earthquake victims after the earthquake, and some of them postponed their mourning processes after losing their relatives. As a result of this situation, the increase in the trauma levels of nurses will inevitably affect their stress levels.
