Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences is an academic 'peer-reviewed' (double-blind referee process) publication and a journal that includes studies related to communication sciences and different disciplines related to communication sciences. In this direction, the journal includes practice, analysis, theory and thought-based research, etc. featured studies are included. Thus, the journal aims to contribute to the academic knowledge of the field of communication by publishing original and academic studies and to deliver the studies to academicians.

Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences is a journal published twice a year. The journal publishes studies related to communication sciences (journalism, public relations, advertising, radio, television and cinema, new media, etc.) and different disciplines related to communication sciences. In this direction, the journal contains original research articles, compilation articles, book reviews, reviews of audiovisual studies and interviews that comply with scientific publication qualifications and publication principles. The journal has the features of being free-open access, academic, peer-reviewed (double-blind referee process) and electronic. Academic studies reaching the journal have the opportunity to be published with the positive report of at least two referees (double-blind reviewing method) after the preliminary evaluation of the editorial board.

• Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences is an academic, peer-reviewed (double-blind referee process) online journal published twice a year. Authors will be able to submit articles by subscribing to the Dergipark system.
• Authors should prepare their work/study on the article template prepared by our Editorial Board. You can download Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences Article Template from here.
• Studies submitted to the journal are subject to preliminary evaluation in terms of compliance with the spelling rules. Manuscripts that do not comply with the spelling, reference and bibliography rules are sent back to the authors and corrections are requested.
• Works (Manuscripts) to be sent to the journal should include the following main sections: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Title in English, Abstract in English, Keywords in English, Introduction, Literature, Method, Analysis and Findings, Discussion and Conclusion, Bibliography, Appendices.
• Manuscripts to be sent to the journal should be between 6000-8000 words, including footnotes and references.

• • Evaluations of audio-visual products to be sent to the journal should be between 1000-2000 words, including footnotes and references. You can download Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences Audio Visual Product Review Template from here.
• Manuscripts should be sent with Turkish and English abstracts of 100-150 words. There should be at least 3 and at most 5 keywords under the abstracts.
• Only the title of the article should be on the articles and abstracts.
• Abstracts should be written in 10 pt, Palatino Linotype font and with 1 line spacing.
• Authors are nowhere in the text, page footnotes, etc. should not write information about their names and institutions, including side texts.
• Manuscripts should be written in Microsoft Word format (doc or docx extension), in Palatino Linotype font, with 11 font size and 1 line spacing. If used, footnotes should be written in 9 font size, justified and single line spacing.
• Page margins should be left and top: 3 cm, right and bottom: 2.5 cm.
• Paragraph spacing should be 8 pt before and 0 pt after.
Footnotes should be numbered and placed at the end of the page.
• Layout of titles:
The main title of the article is in capital letters and bold, 14 pt.
First Degree Title: It should be in capital letters and bold, 12 pt.
Second Degree Heading: The first letters should be capital and bold 12 pt.
Tertiary Title: Initial letters should be capitalized and italic, 12 pt.
All headings should be left aligned
• Paragraphs should be adjacent to each other and indented by 1 tab.
• Direct quotations, italic with double quotes in the text if short; If it is 40 words or more in length, it should be in italics and 1 tab from the right and left. In quotations, the font, size and line spacing used in the main text are valid.
• Single-digit numbers should be indicated with letters, and larger numbers should be indicated with numbers.
• Pronunciation of the word in additions to abbreviations made in lowercase letters; In additions to abbreviations made in capital letters, the pronunciation of the last letter of the abbreviation should be taken as basis.
• Dates should be indicated with numbers and an apostrophe should be used for the appendices. (Ex. 1950s, in 2013).
• Graphics, photographs, tables, etc. images used in the articles should be placed in appropriate places in the text. Such images should be listed in Table 1, Table 2 and Figure 1, Figure 2. Texts within tables/figures should be Palatino Linotype 9 pt.
• In the manuscripts, the explanatory note should be given as footnotes, not as endnotes.

In-text references and bibliographies of all articles to be sent to Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences should be shown in accordance with APA Style.

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES - PUBLICATION ETHICS
1. Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences is a scientific peer-reviewed (double-blind referee process) journal that started its publication life in 2021 and is published twice a year in June and December. If the editorial board deems necessary, it is possible to add additional number or special issues. The editorial board decides how many studies will be published in each issue, and the studies that have completed the peer-reviewing process are put in order. The journal in which the blind peer-review system (double-blind referee process) is applied is academic, peer-reviewed and electronic.
2. No fee is charged for the studies to be published in our journal, and the studies published in our journal can be accessed from the website of our journal in accordance with the open access (free) policy.
3. The journal, being published in Turkish and English, contains quality and original studies prepared in accordance with academic standards on communication sciences, sub-disciplines and different disciplines related to communication sciences.
4. Studies to be published in the journal must not have been previously published in another journal or other media and should not have been accepted for publication. In addition to this, it is possible to publish the full texts of the studies/papers (provided that they have not been published before) presented in scientific meetings (symposiums, congresses, etc.). For this, the author(s) must adapt their work to the article format of our journal (provided that the referees’ reports are positive-study can be published). In addition, studies produced from theses are also subject to double-blind referee process. The studies produced from the thesis or presented in a congress, symposium or another meeting (while making corrections recommended by the referees) should be stated from which activity or work it was produced as a footnote at the bottom of the first page containing the abstracts.
5.The studies must be sent to via web address of the journal (https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/pauibd) and the author(s) of the studies whose peer-reviewed process (double-blind referee process) has been successfully completed must have the ORCID ID number. In the study sent to the journal, the identity and contact information of the author(s) should not be included when it was first sent.
6. In our journal, there can only one study by an author in the same issue be published. A second study is not accepted even if it is co-authored.
7. In addition to original articles, short promotional and criticism studies (evaluations) of communication products such as books, films, television programs, and audio-visual works such as art presentations, and conversation studies are also published in our journal. These studies should be by a single author.
8. Studies that are not arranged according to the spelling rules of our journal and the “Templates” on the journal page are returned without going through the editorial and referee evaluation process. In addition, the editorial board makes the final decision on publishing the studies in our journal.

The studies must send to the journal together with the following documents:
• “Copyright Transfer Form” signed by all authors must be submitted. All publication rights of accepted works belong to journal and the author(s) are deemed to have transferred their copyrights and no royalties are paid to them. • Ethics Committee Permission Certificate (For studies whose research object is human -field research, in-depth interviews, etc.-)
• Similarity report (20 percent) (A similarity report should be obtained by the authors through programs such as √iThendicate etc. and sent with the article. The upper limit of the similarity rate, excluding the bibliography, is 20 percent for a study to be published in journal.)

Evaluation Process
1. Preliminary checks of the editorial board in order for the articles sent to our journal to be evaluated by the referee; Compliance with the writing and publication rules, ethical principles, purpose and scope of our journal is made by the editorial board. In addition, the plagiarism report submitted by the authors is examined, studies with a similarity rate not exceeding 20 percent are included in the blind peer-review process, while studies exceeding the similarity rate are rejected. In addition, if the studies are found to be deficient in terms of criteria such as content, method, subject and writing rules by the editors, they are rejected by the editors or if correction is possible, corrections may be requested (provided that they are corrected within 15 days). The author(s) of the study is informed about whether the study is suitable for evaluation.
2. The double-blind referee process of the studies approved by the editorial board is initiated, and each study is evaluated by at least two referees (in terms of title, peers and superiors to the author, and referees from different institutions with the author) (if necessary, a third referee is appointed). As a result of double-blind referee process study may be directly rejected or correction (within 15 days) may be requested for the evaluated study. If one referee gives a rejection (unpublished) report and the other referee gives an acceptance (publishable) report, the studies are sent to a third referee. Studies can be published if the third referee reports "publishable". On the other hand, if both referees give "unpublished report" for the study, the study is rejected. If the referee wants to see the works that have been corrected by the researcher, the study is taken to the referee process again and sent to the referee who made the evaluation. In cases where the referee does not request to see it again, the editor checks the corrections and if it is seen that the necessary corrections have been made, the study(s) can be published. In journal, attention is paid to the fact that the author(s) and referees of the studies included in the blind referee evaluation process are from different institutions and that the referees have an equal or higher title than the author(s) of the evaluated study.

Copyright and Plagiarism Policy
• Pamukkale University owns the financial rights, processing, reproduction, representation, printing, publication, distribution and transmission to the public, including all kinds of public transmission, printing and copyrights, of all works published in the journal. Studies published in our journal can be downloaded, shared, and cited from the journal's website, but the studies cannot be changed and used for commercial purposes. Violation of copyrights is a crime as defined in the relevant articles of the Law No. 5846 on Intellectual and Artistic Works.
• A similarity report should be obtained for the studies to be published in our journal from the programs such as √iThendicate and the similarity rate should not exceed 20 percent.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
Pamukkale University Journal of Communication Sciences adopts the ethical standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, https://publicationethics.org/).

Authors’ Responsibilities:
The author(s) who submit their work to our journal are required to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:

• Scientific, content, linguistic and legal responsibility of the articles published in our journal belong to the author(s).
• The originality of the study sent by the author(s); The originality of the studies must be ensured and the compliance of the studies with scientific and ethical principles is the responsibility of the author(s). While the author(s) have to undertake that their studies are not published elsewhere or in another language, is not in the process of evaluation and is not accepted, they should make use of previous studies related to the subject they wrote and make complete and correct citations and citations when making use of these studies.
• The studies submitted by the author(s) must be in accordance with the scope, policy and purposes of our journal, and the studies must be original. The full texts of the papers presented by the authors in scientific meetings (congress, symposium, etc.) can be published in our journal, provided that they are not published elsewhere, and the studies they produce from their theses also go through the double-blind referee process.
• The author(s) of the study/work sent to our journal are expected to pay attention to the attribution and reference rules, and to have the necessary permissions for the materials that may cause copyright problems, including scale, tables, figures, images, and a document showing that the consent of the subjects/human used in the study has been obtained.
• Person(s) who do not intellectually contribute to the content of the study/work done should not be included in the study as the author and it should not be proposed to change the author responsibilities of the studies whose evaluation process has started (such as adding an author, changing the order of the authors, removing the author).
• The author(s) should declare situations and relationships that may create conflicts of interest in research in their studies and financial supports that may affect the research.
• The Copyright Form must be signed by the author(s) and sent with the work. You can access the Copyright Form here.

• Ethics Committee Permission Certificate should be sent with the study in studies whose research object is human.
• When any data is requested from the authors within the scope of the evaluation processes of the studies, this request should be met.
• The author(s) are expected to inform the journal editor if they notice any inaccuracies or errors regarding their published and under evaluation studies. In addition, the author(s) are obliged to cooperate with the editor of our journal (apply with a written petition) in the process of correcting or withdrawing their study/work.
• .Only one study of author(s) is published in the same number in journal.
• The editorial board makes the final decision on the studies and the rejected works are not returned.

Editors’ Responsibilities:
It is among our basic principles that the editors, assistant editors and field editors in our journal make independent decisions while fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. Editors who are responsible for each publication in our journal have the following roles and responsibilities in this context:
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors, who are responsible for ensuring the development of the journal, have an obligation to objectively evaluate the studies submitted to our journal. It is their responsibility to ensure that the statements that contain errors, inconsistencies and misdirection in the studies are corrected quickly.
• They are responsible for ensuring the continuity of the evaluation processes of the studies submitted to our journal and for their meticulous execution in an independent and impartial manner.
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors are responsible for making an effort to meet the information needs of the readers, and authors who send a study to our journal, and to appoint the referees (according to their fields of expertise) without causing a conflict of interest between the author(s) and the referees, as well as increasing the scientific quality of the studies to be published in our journal.
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors have the responsibility to ensure that the studies submitted to our journal are evaluated by double-blind referees, and that the identities of the author(s) and referees are kept confidential
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors should determine the referees who will evaluate the studies according to their fields of expertise, pay attention to whether there is a conflict of interest between the authors and the referees, evaluate the referees with criteria such as timely evaluation, return and performance, and ensure that the referee pool is up-to-date and consists of a wide range.
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors have an obligation to embrace freedom of thought, not to compromise on ethical principles, and to consider the feedback of researchers and readers. In this context, they have responsibilities to be clear, understandable and transparent on issues that need to be corrected or explained in terms of published and published studies.
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors are responsible for delivering the referee evaluation forms and their comments to the author(s) of the studies included in the evaluation process.
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors should consider complaints and suggestions from authors, referees and readers, and respond to complaints in an enlightening and understandable language.
• Editors, assistant editors, and field editors are responsible for rejecting studies that do not have the approval of the ethical committee for the subjects (human, animal) used in the studies.
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors are responsible for protecting the intellectual property rights of the studies published in our journal and other works used in the studies and defending the rights of the author(s).
• Editors, assistant editors and field editors should inform the members of the editorial board about the journal's publication policies.

Referees’ Responsibilities
• The "double-sided blind refereeing" method is applied in the evaluation of the studies submitted to our journal by the referees. While this method ensures that the studies are evaluated objectively and independently, the referees are required to conduct the studies they evaluate objectively and confidentially.
• Referees should reject studies that are not suitable for their area of expertise and should report this to the editors in a short time.
• The referees should evaluate the content of the studies in a constructive and polite manner, ensure the confidentiality of the studies, and when they detect situations such as plagiarism, conflict of interest and copyright infringement, they should refuse the work and inform the editors.
• The referees should make their evaluations within the time allowed for them and write their decisions about the work they evaluated in a detailed and understandable way in the “note to the author” section of the evaluation section of the referee evaluation form.

Publisher’s Ethical Responsibilities:
The Editorial Board is responsible for the execution of the processes that the studies sent to the journal will go through. Our journal respects the ownership and copyright of each study/work it publishes, and undertakes to keep every copy of these study. In addition to these, our journal has the duty and responsibility to take precautions against scientific misconduct, citation fraud and plagiarism.

PRICE POLICY
No fee is charged to the author(s) or paid to the author(s) in any way for all processes including the evaluation and publication of our journal by the referee during the publication process. Readers and researchers can access the full texts of the studies published in our journal, free of charge, from the archive on the page of our journal, except for commercial purposes. However, all or part of the studies published in our journal cannot be reproduced. When citing studies published in our journal, it should be done in appropriate criteria and by showing the source-reference.
