Abstract

Abstract

When considering the impact of sustainability-focused firms on the global economy, the concepts of green innovation and corporate sustainability hold significant importance in the literature. The main purpose of this research, based on the current literature, is to examine the mediating role of organizational change in the impact of green innovation and corporate sustainability on firm performance. This study aims to contribute to the literature, researchers, managerial practices, and policymakers. Using a sample of 399 firms operating in the industrial and service sectors in the Marmara region, the study investigates whether the efforts of these firms in green innovation and corporate sustainability create a positive impact on firm performance and whether openness to organizational change plays a mediating role in these relationships. The findings reveal that green innovation and corporate sustainability positively affect firm performance; however, the effect of openness to organizational change is relatively less significant. Openness to organizational change demonstrates a low level of partial mediation in the relationship between green innovation and firm performance, whereas it exhibits full mediation in the relationship between corporate sustainability and firm performance. Current findings confirm the importance of green innovation, corporate sustainability, and openness to organizational change in managing firm performance. Consequently, this research expands our knowledge on how firm performance can be enhanced through green innovation types and corporate sustainability practices and how openness to organizational change can mediate these relationships.
