                                                                                                <abstract><p>MgO ve Al2O3karışımının katı hal reaksiyonu sonucunda magnezyum aluminat (MgAl2O4)spinel oluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmada spinel sentezi için başlangıç malzemesiolarak manyezit atığı ve Al2O3 kullanılmıştır. Bu sayedemanyezit fabrikasından çıkan atığın değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıcabaşlangıç karışımına ilave edilen ZnO’in magnezyum alüminat spinelinyoğunlaşması üzerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Manyezit atığı, Al2O3ve ağ. %1, 2, 3 ve 4 oranlarında ZnO ilavesiyle hazırlanan karışımlar kurupreslenmiş ve sonrasında farklı sıcaklıklarda (1300-1350-1400-1450 ve 1500°C) 1saat süre ile sinterlenmişlerdir. Üretilen ürünlerin XRD, SEM-EDS analizleriyapılmış, bulk yoğunluk, görünür gözenek ve mikro sertlik değerleri ölçülmüştür.Elde edilen sonuçlara göre magnezyum alüminat üretimi için optimum şartlarbelirlenmiştir.</p></abstract>

                            <p>The magnesium aluminate spinel (MgAl2O4) isobtained at the end of solid-state reaction of MgO and Al2O3mixture. In this study, magnesite waste and Al2O3 wereused as initial materials for spinel synthesis. In this way, the recycling ofwaste materials disposed from magnesite factory was aimed. In addition, theeffect of ZnO added into beginning mixture on densification of magnesiumaluminate spinel was investigated. The initial mixture containing magnesitewaste, Al2O3 and 1, 2, 3 and 4 wt. % ZnO addition weredry pressed and the specimens were exposed to sintering process at differenttemperatures (1300-1350-1400-1450 and 1500°C) for 1 hour. The producedspecimens were exposed to XRD, SEM-EDS analysis, bulk density, % apparentporosity and micro-hardness measurements were performed. In the light offindings, the optimum conditions for magnesium aluminate spinel production weredetermined.</p></trans-abstract>
