Abstract

The Effect of Covid 19 Restrictions on Domestic Violence Against Women: Literature Review

Year 2022, Volume: 7 Issue: Covid-19 Ek Sayısı, 125 - 133, 23.06.2022

Abstract

The coronavirus disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has become a growing global pandemic worldwide. Countries have had to take urgent measures to control the epidemic. Movement restrictions, social distance, isolation, closure of workplaces outside of markets, remote working, distance education are among the important measures to protect public health and reduce disease transmission. Although this situation improved the course of the pandemic, it caused the deterioration of power dynamics within the family. Due to Covid 19, economic inadequacies, stress, increased use of alcohol, the victim and perpetrator of violence sharing the same environment for a long time, and lack of social support have also led to an increase in risk factors for domestic violence. The purpose of this review is to examine the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on domestic violence against women in the light of the literature.
