CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT IN 21st CENTURY: NEW TENDENCIES, CONCEPTS AND UNDERSTANDING

Abstract

This study aims to identify prominent tendencies, concepts and understandings concerned with renovating, modifying and renewing the 21st century curriculum and it also aims to determine influences of these conceptualizations on studies of curriculum development in education. Compilation method based on literature review is used in this study. Results of this study are given below:

1- Prominent values and issues; increasing cultural and language varieties, international dialogue, rapid access to information, socio-economic inequality and inability to benefitting from democratic rights.

2- Understandings of the 21st century, the dimension of learning to live
together protecting inner peace of the country without conflicting with the
accepted regime should be placed in curriculums.


3- One of the aims of the 21st century curriculum should include concepts such
as multinationalism-multidimensional citizenship-world citizenship and being a
citizen of global world.


4- Fundamental recognition in studies renewing the 21st century curriculums
is to get away from centralism.


5- In the process of the 21st century curriculum development, participatory
approach should be displayed which allows not only high-level authorities and
educationalists but also much wider range of social groups such as parents,
families, employers, local pertinent people, spiritual, social leaders and students.

21. YÜZYILDA EĞİTİMDE PROGRAM GELİŞTİRMEDE YÖNELİM, KAVRAM VE ANLAYIŞLAR

Abstract

Bu çalısmada, 21. yüzyılın eğitim programlarında güncelleme, değistirme ve
yenilestirmeye yönelik öne çıkan eğilimler, kavramlar ve anlayısların neler
olduğu ve bu olguların eğitimde program gelistirme çalısmalarına
yansımalarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıstır. Arastırmada derleme (tarama)
yöntemi kullanılmıstır. Arastırmada su sonuçlara ulasılmıstır:
1- 21. yüzyılda öne çıkan değerler ve sorunlar; artan kültürel ve dilsel
çesitlilik, uluslar arası diyalog, bilgiye çok hızlı ulasma, sosyo-ekonomik esitsizlik
ve demokratik haklardan yararlanamamadır.
2- 21. Yüzyılda anlayıs, eğitim programlarında, ülkelerin iç huzuru
koruyarak ve kabul edilen rejim ile çatısmaya girmeden birlikte yasamayı
öğrenme boyutuna yer vermedir.
3- 21. yüzyılın eğitim programlarının hedefleri arasında çok ulusluluk -çok
boyutlu yurttaslık-dünya yurttaslığı- kavramlarına ve küresel dünyanın bir
yurttası olma konusuna yer verilmelidir.
4- 21. yüzyılda eğitim programını yenileme çalısmalarında temel anlayıs,
eğitim programının merkeziyetçilikten kurtulmasıdır.
5- 21. yüzyılda eğitim programları gelistirme süreçlerine, sadece üst düzey
yetkilileri ve eğitim uzmanlarını değil, daha genis -ebeveynler, aileler, isverenler,
yerel ilgililer, dini ve toplum liderleri ve öğrenciler gibi- toplumsal kitlelerin de
katılımına olanak veren katılımcı bir yaklasım sergilenmelidir.
